For sneakerheads, Marcus Jordan’s Trophy Room is more than just a sneaker boutique. It’s a shrine to NBA legend Michael Jordan and the shoes he’s made famous. But not even the best sneaker stores in the world are exempt from theft. Back in October 2024, just hours after Hurricane Milton ripped through Orlando, Florida, five masked thieves decided to turn disaster into opportunity. Their target was the Trophy Room warehouse, not the main retail space, but a storage site tied to it.
According to court docs and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the group ransacked the warehouse, snatching up 300 to 400 pairs of rare sneakers of at least $20,000 in value. Among the stolen heat was the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG “Rookie Card – Home,” a June 2024 release that tied back to MJ’s early NBA days. So yes, the thieves knew their sneakers.

Months went by with no major leads until Detective John Mendez got a tip. A Trophy Room employee spotted the stolen Jordans being resold downtown. And in true amateur-hour fashion, one of the suspects was literally wearing the stolen kicks when police questioned him. Yes. On his feet. In public.
That arrest cracked the case wide open, leading to four more suspects. By June 2025, they were all in cuffs. Charges include grand theft and dealing in stolen goods.
“Just know, that just because there’s a hurricane, once it’s over, we’re going to investigate every lead, and we’re going to catch you,” Mendez told Fox 35 (via WWD).

When Marcus Jordan opened the boutique in 2016, he wanted to tell stories, not just sell shoes. Inspired by the real Trophy Room in the Jordan family home, the store mixes family memorabilia with hyped sneaker drops. It’s nostalgia meets Nike.
