Announced earlier in 2023 and available across the globe, the Hennessy x Kim Jones collaboration has finally made its way onto South African shores. The collaboration features a limited edition Hennessy Masterpiece X.O decanter to celebrate Hennessy X.O’s 150 years of cultural impact. Surprisingly, a pair of limited-edition sneakers is also featured alongside this Hennessy x Kim Jones release.

In a unique collaboration between the world’s leading cognac brand and designer, Kim Jones, the Hennessy x Kim Jones collection features a limited-edition bottle, decanter as well as a custom, low-top pair of sneakers.
Kim Jones currently serves as the director of Fendi, a fashion house with Italian roots which falls under the LVMH Group. Having a legacy going back over 250 years, Hennesy has been a part of key moments in history. It, too, falls under the LVMH Group, creating fertile ground for the collaboration.
As a celebration of the Hennessy X.O’s milestone of 150 years, the partnership encapsulates the richness of its heritage. It pays tribute to the cognac-making and couture processes. The two bottles both feature twisting folds in their design, an ode to couture clothing draping.
The first of these pieces is the Hennessy X.O Masterpiece Decanter. There are only three of these that have made their way into South Africa, available at an eye-watering R500,000. The second of these is the Hennessy X.O Limited Edition Bottle. This signature bottle was also inspired by the couture silhouette, although not as emphatic. These iconic bottles are available across the country at various retailers at R3,500.

The final piece of the collection is the HNY Low by Kim Jones. This is a limited edition sneaker that’s inspired by early low-top designs to create an elegant and timeless look, meant for various styles and ages.
The sneaker’s aesthetic was designed to pair with the drink itself, resembling the colour of the cognac. As a result, it is crafted from premium materials, including nubuck leather on the upper. Additionally, the glint of the liquid has been transferred onto the soles and laces. The heel features the “KM” initials, as well as Hennessy’s signature bras armé emblem.
Despite its premium design and artistic aesthetic, each of the sneakers was meant to be practical, whether it be for everyday use or only for special occasions. Its functionality means that it’s both comfortable and durable, with its brown colourway meant to be paired with any outfit.
Only two pairs of these limited edition sneakers have made it onto South African soil. Unfortunately, neither of these are for sale.
