Next year marks a noteworthy milestone: 30 years of the beloved Air Jordan 11 silhouette. Naturally, this anniversary has us eagerly hoping for the return of many treasured colourways from the model’s impressive lineup. Alongside iconic high-top versions like the Jordan 11 Retro “Gamma Blue,” “Cool Grey,” and the “Cap and Gown” (among many, many others), we’re particularly hopeful for the return of the Jordan 11 Retro Low “Reverse Concord,” or as many know it, the “Tuxedo” Jordan 11. And if it’s not too much to ask, could we finally have it in a high-top silhouette?
A Closer Look at the Sneaker
Many sneakerheads may fondly remember the release of the low-top Air Jordan 11 Retro “Tuxedo” from 2013. This sneaker was designed as a unique twist on the iconic “Concord” colourway and quickly became a favourite in its own right. Essentially, it just flips the Concord’s upper colours to create a tuxedo-like appearance, but this small change creates a big impact.
The design showcases black mesh up top with a white patent leather mudguard that elegantly wraps around the shoe. It also features a white midsole and a grey translucent outsole for a sleek finish.
It’s undoubtedly a stylish and sophisticated take on a classic silhouette, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t love to see this pair reimagined as a high-top version. In fact, House of Heat presented a concept back in 2018. Here’s hoping that our wish will be granted during next year’s AJ11 festivities.
How to Grab the Jordan 11 Retro “Tuxedo”
But for now, the low-top iteration of this sneaker is available for purchase on resale platforms like eBay, GOAT, and StockX. As an added bonus, the sneaker also comes in Grade School sizes, allowing even the younger crowd to sport this stylish look.
But if you’re looking for a high-top variant like us, you might have to wait until Jordan Brand redesigns the style. Alternatively, you could also explore the realm of custom sneaker designers, where you’ll surprisingly find quite a few high-top Jordan 11 “Tuxedo” pairs.
But while we eagerly await the Jumpman Label to fulfil our high-top dreams, there are other exciting colourways slated for release in the coming months. Look out for the return of the AJ 11 “Legend Blue” later this year, along with a reimagined “Bred Velvet” look for the 1995 model. And don’t forget to follow us here at Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and cosy trips down sneaker memory lane.
