Kanye West’s Adidas Yeezy Slides literally changed the game when it comes to slide-on slippers. In fact, you can see its design and style incorporated into just about every brand on the market, including Nike’s Calm Slide, Adidas Adilette 22, and PUMA Men’s Shibui Cat. Now, Ye is back, hoping to work the same magic again for his own YZY brand. The Yeezy SLPR is a minimalist slipper similar to the Slides but at a fraction of the price. At just twenty bucks – yes, just $20 – will it be another big cop for fans?
Is This A New Era of Yeezy?
Ye has finally shaken off corporate overlords and extravagant price tags to deliver his 2nd footwear creation straight to the people. The drop comes after Ye released the Yeezy Pods (essentially a sock with rubber traction pods glued on the bottom) back in June 2024. While the Pods sold out quickly (I even managed to grab a pair), they weren’t exactly a hit with fans. In fact, I’ve yet to see anyone wear them out in public. I know I haven’t.
Things are a little different with the Yeezy SLPR, however. Thank goodness! This looks a little more practical and is something you could wear to the beach or when you’re on a low-key mission around the house. With its low-cut silhouette and full-length rippled outsole, it’s clear that Kanye took notes and decided on a streamlined approach to design.

The Yeezy SLPR Is Simple, Minimalistic, and Affordable
Like the Yeezy Slides, at its core, the SLPR is a minimalistic one-piece EVA-molded slipper. There’s no frills or over-the-top, alien-like designs here. In fact, it’s a stark contrast to the more organic, avant-garde designs Ye once pushed with adidas and more in line with his current look. This is a simple slip-on with smooth foam construction and a grooved outsole – just like something we’ve him wear while promoting Vultures 1 and Vultures 2.

Adidas Cuts Ties, YZY Takes Over
The timing of this release is no accident either. Just a few days ago, adidas erased all mentions of Yeezy from its website, making YZY.com the top search result for fans looking for fresh drops – something West recently called the brand out on. Of course, all this controversy only fuels the hype. And Ye knows this all too well already. He has a strange habit of stirring controversy before dropping big releases. Why should the Yeezy SLPR be any different?
The $20 YZY Collection
The $20 slide, which is only available in even sizes—2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16, joins a collection of new clothing products released on the YZY site. From tops and hoodies to sweatpants and socks, at $20, his new YZY line is all about accessibility.

Shipping Delays? A Lesson from the Yeezy Pods
But hold up, before you rush to cop a pair, there’s one important detail to note: the shipping might take a while. At least, that was the case with the Yeezy Pods. I personally waited months before they arrived in the mail. Perhaps the shipping situation has been improved this time around. We’ll have to wait and see. But for $20, they’re definitely well-priced.
