LeBron James didn’t just beat the Warriors on Saturday night. He also walked into the building wearing your next “I said I’m just here to hoop” sneaker. The shoe in question is the Nike LeBron NXT Gen “JW”, a collaboration with USC women’s basketball star JuJu Watkins.
The Los Angeles Lakers took down the Golden State Warriors 105-99, with LeBron putting up 20 points and 10 assists. Somewhere between the buckets and the playmaking, he revealed the new Nike collab. LeBron debuted the Metallic Silver/Light Crimson edition of the Nike LeBron NXT Gen “JW”, and it lands like a clean exhale after weeks of messy colourways. The pair sticks to grey and silver, then hits you with a glossy metallic Swoosh that catches the light like it knows cameras are nearby.
Instagram reactions to the Nike LeBron NXT Gen “JW” were aggressive as always. “This looks very sleek and comfy. Finally,” wrote one person. Another sneakerhead said what we’re all thinking: “Great looking shoe. Reminds me of one of the earlier KDs. If they didn’t save on materials this will be a great shoe.” Someone else kept it simple: “These are clean, less can be more.”
The NXXT Gen Future is built like a modern performance tool: lower cut than before, leather toe overlay that runs up toward the lace collar, synthetic mesh up top, and classic Swoosh placement. Underfoot, you get a full-length Cushlon bed, forefoot Zoom Air, and a translucent rubber midsole and outsole setup.
There’s no official release date yet because this was a surprise debut. In fact, Watkins has four colourways planned for Spring 2026 and another four in Summer 2026. Spring includes Metallic Silver Light Crimson, Light Crimson Bright Crimson, Metallic Copper Black, and Light Photo Blue Black. Summer brings Muslin Gelati, White Black, Stadium Green Light Menta, and Merlot Metallic Silver. Retail sits at $170 for seven pairs. But one of the Premium pairs will be $180.
Watkins won’t play this NCAA season after tearing her ACL late last year, but Nike’s still treating her like the next face of the program. She already signed with Nike before her first college class, and she’s getting the rare honour of public releases tied to her player-exclusive designs.
Either way, the Nike LeBron NXT Gen “JW” has fans of both LeBron James and JuJu Watkins talking.
