New Balance has taken the 1906R, one of their most popular lifestyle shoes that still doubles as a runner, and seamlessly converted it into a gorgeous slip-on option.
Keeping the signature outsole and tread that has garnered their sneakers plenty of praise and attention, the brand has practically cut the tops off their runners to make a stunning pair of loafers that maintain the critical elements of what makes the 1906 range so popular while giving the loafer its own distinctness.
The outsole and classic off-white midsole make you think that you are looking at an ordinary pair of New Balance sneakers from the bottom, with traction that would be useful in almost any situation. In contrast, from a top-down view, you would think these loafers are ready to be worn to a wedding.
The entire shoe is decked out in reflective leather, which wraps around the collar, makes up portions of the overlay throughout the upper, and forms the stunning silver panel that covers the tongue in place of any kind of lace unit.

These sneakers are so fresh off the chopping block that no specific release dates are yet making the rounds. That being said, a tentative release window of Fall 2024 has been suggested, so we will hopefully see these sneakers later this year and no later than that.
While we wait for specific release details, it does seem that New Balance will be releasing a couple of colourways for the 1906L range at the same time, so stay tuned to see what they have in store for us in 2024.
