Nike Air Force 1 Joker: Folie à Deux Sneakers Celebrate The Film

Custom Nike Air Force 1 Joker: Folie à Deux Sneakers - Joker & Harley Quinn

The next chapter in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker story is almost here. We join Arthur Fleck as he seemingly descends deeper into madness and meets the perfect match to his insanity, Harley Quinn, while inside Arkham Asylum. After watching the latest trailer for the movie, we were inspired to create our own custom-concept Nike Air Force 1 sneakers inspired by Joker: Folie à Deux.

Of course, because Joker: Folie à Deux, the next film in Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker franchise, inspires these sneakers, we couldn’t have a pair of Joker-themed sneakers without introducing a pair of Harley Quinn-themed sneakers, too.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker took the typical white clown face, red makeup, and green hair of the Joker character that we know and love but switched things up by introducing a completely different suit to the purple that Heath Ledger’s Joker introduced. Gone are the days of royal purple; instead, we have a Joker wearing a bright red suit with a bright orange waistcoat over a green shirt that matches Joker’s makeup and hair.

Choosing to base this Joker: Folie à Deux Air Force 1 sneaker on Joker’s outfit rather than his makeup, the sneakers feature the bright orange of the waistcoat on the outsole and midsole. At the same time, the leather of the upper is mostly the bright red of the suit, and the Swoosh and inner lining is a bright teal green reminiscent of Joker’s dress shirt and tie. The toe box of the sneakers and the quarter feature a carpet-like texture over orange suede, working perfectly with the orange of the outsole but bringing an element of interest to the sneakers.

We wanted to make a pair of Joker-themed sneakers that were still incredibly wearable, hence the choice to leave off any prominent Joker branding or quotes. This makes these sneakers more versatile than your average Joker-themed custom.

Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Joker: Folie à Deux Sneaker

Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Sneaker

While the trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux mostly shows Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn within the walls of Gotham’s Arkham Asylum, in which she doesn’t have her full fit and face on, many of the pictures promoting the movie have shown her with a makeup look and outfit similar to her Joker’s, and surprisingly similar to her black and red looks from the comics. We have taken inspiration from her gorgeous look to inspire these sneakers.

Emulating her pale skin, red lips and black diamond-covered eyes, her outfit matches to a tee, with a gorgeous red satin blazer and a typical Harley Quinn-inspired bodice underneath. The colourway of the sneakers matches a similar emulation.

Black makes up the outsole and midsole, the Nike Swoosh, the tongue label, and the heel tab. The overlays of the upper take on the red of her jacket and the quarter take on the diamond-checkered pattern of Harley’s shirt. The toe box and laces are plain white.

Not only do the Air Force 1 sneakers work perfectly to represent both Joker and Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, but the two pairs work wonderfully as a duo.

As mentioned earlier and in the title of this article, these sneakers are a concept and not actual customs or official sneakers on offer. Still, you can enjoy these concepts with us as we wait for Joker: Folie à Deux to hit cinemas on October 4, 2024. In the meantime, check out the trailer for the movie:
