Nike has been using its creative .SWOOSH division to honour a number of classic low-poly games of yesteryear. First to show up on the scene was a hairy suede sneaker inspired by the beloved ’90s gorilla, Donkey Kong, followed by a Lara Croft-themed design that surely brings back memories of endlessly raiding tombs/ruins and solving puzzles. The latest addition to this nostalgic collection? A Nike Air Max 1 “Big Head Mode” inspired by none other than GoldenEye 007.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

Yes, .SWOOSH dug into the retro video game archives of the Nintendo 64 gaming system to pull out this awesome sneaker design inspired by the iconic first-person shooter game. Of course, the “Big Head Mode” nickname pays tribute to the exaggerated character models that come into play when you unlock DK Mode in the game, while most of the shoe’s colour scheme references Bond’s iconic black and white tuxedo.

However, there definitely are other game-related references in the design, including the iconic Golden Gun, which is represented by the gold accents on the tongue, laces, and mini Swoosh, as well as the red and blue health and armour meters surrounding the “Nike Air” logo at the heel.

If you want to get a closer look at all of the intricacies in action before the shoe’s physical release date, the sneaker is now accessible in Fortnite’s Item Shop for players to buy and wear in-game.

Nike Air Max 1 “Big Head Mode” Release Details

Sneakerheads and gamers can anticipate the release of this special Nike Air Max 1 design in the summer of 2025. The sneakers will retail for $160 USD and be accessible through the Nike SNKRS app.

Yet, there are plenty of other Air Max drops to look forward to as well, including Undefeated’s Nike Air Max 95 pack and the return of beloved designs like the Air Max CB 34 “Triple White” and the Air Max Uptempo 95 “Chicago.” Until then, be sure to follow Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and news.
