Before earning its stripes with skateboarders, the Dunk was initially designed as a basketball shoe. So, to honour this rich heritage, Nike SB imagined the Dunk Low in a colourway forever linked with basketball legend Michael Jordan. The ultra-stylish Nike SB Dunk Low “Chicago” was launched in 2020 as part of the “J-Pack” or Jordan Pack, showcasing classic OG Air Jordan themes. Yet, even a celebrated design like the “Chicago” SB Dunk can benefit from a fresh twist. That’s where the talented sneaker artist Clément Petit (@small.custom) and his Off-White x Nike SB Dunk Low “Chicago” custom come in.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Yes, the sneaker does feature the same classic white leather base, vibrant red leather overlays, and stark black accents that made the original “Chicago” SB Dunk from 2020 so beloved.
Yet, this customised pair introduces some unique elements aligned with the Off-White Dunks from 2019. Features like the distinctive secondary lacing system, signature Off-White Swooshes, and text on the laces all add an extra layer of style to the silhouette.
But that’s not all—subtle homages include Michael Jordan’s signature and a playful nod to the year of the first SB Dunk release, “99,” concealed beneath the wings. Plus, the zig-zag stitching, similar to what you’d find on the Union AJ1s, takes the detail up a notch.
The design is rounded off with a white midsole and red rubber outsole, culminating in a harmonious and striking finish.
