Recently, we have seen some truly remarkable sneaker releases that have combined the unique design flair of the Jordan Brand and Nike SB. Only last year, their collaborative mastery came to fruition with the release of “Pine Green” Air Jordan 4, which became 2023’s most coveted sneaker release. But if we roll back time to a couple of years ago, the SB Dunk Low “Chicago” was the showstopper of 2020. Now, Nike SB has plans to bring the celebrated “Chicago” Dunk Low colourway back into the limelight, and we definitely can’t wait to see this classic sneaker stepping back onto the scene.

One of the most beloved silhouettes of Nike’s skateboarding sub-label, the Dunk Low, has explored an array of classic OG Air Jordan themes as part of its “J-Pack or Jordan pack” series. However, the “Chicago” rendition still remains an all-time favourite.

This sneaker reimagines Michael Jordan’s legendary Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” colour pallet onto the SB Dunk Low, fusing the practicality of skateboard footwear with its basketball origins in a distinctive and fashionable manner.

A good number of us may remember that before achieving cult status among the skateboarding community, thanks to its sturdy build and reactive board feel, the Dunk initially made waves as a basketball shoe.

The design was later carefully re-engineered to meet the rigorous demands of skateboarding, including higher durability and an enhanced tongue and collar for optimal comfort. Nevertheless, this colourway serves as a reminder that the Dunk Low will never lose sight of its original lineage.

A Closer Look at the Sneaker Design

The sneaker shows the same colour blocking as the fan-favourite Air Jordan 1, sporting a white leather base and overlays of vivid red leather. An intense shade of black marks its presence on the panel swooshes, collar, and heel, effortlessly merging the embroidered Nike heel logo with the backdrop.

The padded tongue tag, insoles, and outsoles feature further branding from Nike SB. The shoe is supported by a white midsole and red outsole, with black laces tying the ensemble together for a crisp finish.

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Chicago” caters to lovers of the Jordan and SB brands. So, if by chance you’re a fan of both, this sneaker provides an excellent combo of classic basketball aesthetics and skateboard style. It’s undeniably a colourway that shines on the SB.

Information on the Release

The Nike SB Dunk Low "Chicago" (J-Pack) Returns

The Nike SB Dunk Low “Chicago” (J-Pack) initially hit the market at the tail end of 2020 and bounced back onto the scene in April 2024, this time focusing on the European market. The good news for sneaker enthusiasts in South Africa is that these coveted shoes will be hitting the Nike online store on 10/05 at noon. Hopefully, this means there’s hope that Nike may reintroduce these gems to other locations as well- fingers crossed.

However, if you are itching to get a pair, these kicks are available from StockX and GOAT for as little as $135 USD. So, do be sure to grab these before prices start to rise again. In the meantime, why not check out Nike SB and Jordan’s next collab and remember to follow us here at Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and reviews.
