The Super Mario Bros. Movie brought in many iconic characters, but the one we didn’t get to see was Yoshi. Or not directly, anyway. In the post-credits scene, audiences who thought to stay behind were shown a white egg with green polka dots in the underground sewers. We see the egg begin to hatch, but the screen cuts to black before we are shown who is inside. It didn’t remain a mystery for long, though, and fans of the Mario games soon heard a very familiar shout belonging to none other than Yoshi. Fans were ecstatic about this short scene and its hints at a sequel or spin-off film. Andrew Chiou, who has become popular for customising shoes, specifically Nike Dunk Lows, rode that wave of excitement and decided to design a pair of shoes after Yoshi.

What the Yoshi Nike Dunk Low Sneakers Look Like
Andrew Chiou posted photos of his latest design near the beginning of April with the caption ” Yoshi ” and a dinosaur and egg emoji.
The shoes are almost entirely green. Most of the panels and the inside of the shoe are painted the same bright green the character has become best known for. The front and back outside panels and tongue of the shoe are the same white as Yoshi’s torso and chin. And the laces are a lighter brown.
The smallest panel on the back of the shoes and the Nike symbol running along the outside of the shoe are the same colour as Yoshi’s shell: red with an outline of white. The middle panel housing the beginning of the Nike logo is bordered by three little red bumps, which are reminiscent of the little plates on the back of Yoshi’s head.
The Nike symbol along the inside of the shoe is white. Three green polka dots decorate the head of the logo within the central panel in a way that is reminiscent of Yoshi’s egg. The soles of the shoes are a brownish-orange and yellow design based on Yoshi’s own shoes.
A mini-Yoshi figurine features in many of the images, whether he’s in packaging leaning against the shoes, balanced along the outside of the right shoes or climbing out of it. This is done so you have a direct comparison to the popular character.

Fan Response
Fans loved the shoes, asking if they could buy them from him or how much they would cost. Others thought that he and Nike should do a collaboration saying things like, “You should be granted permission to have your own collab. Best consistency that I’ve seen in a long time,” or “Really need to get Nike on the line with just the color palette alone.”
After seeing all of Chiou’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie-themed designs, fans started suggesting other characters they’d like to see him design a shoe after, including Donkey Kong and Toad.
