A new pair of kicks may be the best gift a sneakerhead can receive on Christmas. The thrill of unwrapping a pair you’ve wanted for months, the scent of the fresh leather, and the delight of lacing them up for the first time is truly unparalleled. Of course, the pleasure is certainly magnified many times over when the kicks you receive are custom-made to your exact specifications, as is the case with this special pair from @neeks_custom_sneaks. Custom shoe artist Niko Barber got the opportunity to make a young sneakerhead’s fantasies come true with a pair of Air Jordan 1 Mid sneakers based on the kid’s drawing.
The young boy had sent a sketch of the exact pair he hoped for in a letter to Santa, and Niko was able to replicate it flawlessly, down to the finest detail. Waffle cone-inspired panels, bubblegum blue heel and ankle overlays, and the perfect ice cream drip on the Swooshes, collar, and toe (not to mention the rainbow sprinkles). Even the “NY” sign was added to the heel of the shoe.
Niko has designed a variety of dessert-inspired customs, like cake heels and doughnut Air Force 1s, so he was the ideal sneaker artist to bring the young boy’s dream kicks to life. And if you were wondering how the young boy reacted when he unwrapped the gift on Christmas morning, you can check out the heartwarming video the customiser shared below.
