There are many legendary hero and villain teams that comic book fans have grown to know and love over the years. But Spider-Man and Venom are one pair we particularly like to see team up or go toe-to-toe (especially when it comes to sneaker designs). Their contrasting personalities and powers make for an exciting and visually dynamic showdown that we think is perfectly captured in these “Spider-Man vs. Venom” Nike Dunk Low customs by Lucas Pate of @lp_kustoms.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
The base of the design is painted to look like the 2020 Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Chicago,” which, as you’ll see, is the perfect colourway to represent Spider-Man and Venom. The shoe features red overlays reminiscent of the web-slinger’s suit, a white tumbled leather toe box, tongue, heel, and quarter panels, and a black collar and Swoosh to represent the sentient alien.
Still, there are a lot of finer elements that contribute to the overall theme of the shoes. The overlays feature a web-like pattern painted to resemble the details on Spider-Man’s suit, while the black details on the shoe gradually take over to give the impression that the Venom symbiote is gaining control. This is highlighted by the black tendrils throughout the design and even the patches of white that are still visible on the inner lining where the black dye hasn’t completely covered the interior.
Finally, the black tendrils also drip onto the midsole and completely encase the outsole in black. The more you examine the design details, the more you’ll value the careful consideration that went into crafting this “Spider-Man vs. Venom” takeover.
