You’ve Never Seen a Nike Dunk Like This Ferrari F40-Inspired “Liberty Walk” Pair

There is no doubt that Bob Ng of @nobrainer.psd has an enviable knack for crafting innovative and arresting sneakers, drawing his inspiration from as diverse sources as anime figures to celebrated album artistry. However, his fondness for vintage cars is particularly notable, which is gloriously demonstrated in his latest masterpiece, the F40 Nike Dunk Low “Liberty Walk.”

The design of this shoe is rooted in the classic Ferrari F40. The vehicle, which received a widebody transformation by Japanese tuning company Liberty Walk, typically sports a vivid red exterior. This time, Liberty Walk dared to reimagine it with a Japanese flag-based design, adopting a white finish with a red circle on each side to represent the rising sun. And let’s not forget the array of sponsorship decals peppered across the car’s sophisticated exterior, enhancing its visual appeal.

This distinctive design is echoed in the F40 Nike Dunk Low “Liberty Walk,” boasting a “White” upper with “Red” and “Black” highlights. The smooth “White” leather, inspired by the car’s body, serves as the ideal backdrop for the bold “Red” and “Black” accents ingeniously positioned across the shoe.

The subtleties start with a rich “Black” shade used on the eye-stays, tongue, and heel, emulating the tinted glass of the luxurious Liberty Walk custom vehicle. The sneaker’s lacework and inner padding also flaunt this chic black hue, further elevating its aesthetic allure.

The vibrant “Red” that graces the flanks of the Liberty Walk F40 transitions onto the iconic Nike Profile Swooshes. This bold colour not only provides a beautiful contrast to the white leather but also pays a fitting tribute to the audacious aesthetics of the Liberty Walk car.

Taking the authenticity a notch higher, the branding elements on the toe, mudguard, quarter panels, and ankle flap are reminiscent of those on the actual Liberty Walk car. While it’s hard to predict if the Ferrari logo will find its place on the tongue of the shoe, the “Nike” logo embedded onto the heel is a definite given, seeing as this is a Dunk Low custom design.

The design is rounded off with a white midsole and a black rubber outsole, symbolic of the skirting and tyres of the modified car. Even a black stitching detail is incorporated on the midsole to portray the black line that runs across the Ferrari F40.

Although it’s hard to speculate on the insole design, a carbon fibre pattern or a Ferrari logo seems like a plausible concept, consistent with the iconic car’s theme. But this is merely our imaginative take and may not be reflected in Bob Ng’s final custom sneaker design.

If the gorgeous F40 Nike Dunk Low “Liberty Walk” concept sneaker has impressed you, don’t forget to keep an eye on Bob Ng’s Instagram page and website for updates on its launch. Currently, tantalising hints on the custom sneaker artist’s social media predict a prospective launch in February 2024. Of course, you’ll need to register as a member first to secure access to his releases.

And if you’re a sneaker enthusiast, having the ability to customise your kicks and enjoy worldwide shipping might just be music to your ears. This exclusive treat, however, comes with a rather hefty price tag of $800 USD. Yet, for many enthusiasts, the unique craftsmanship and individuality of these designs are well worth the steep cost. Still, if parting with that chunk of change feels excessive, no need to fret. Get creative and craft your personal design through the Nike By You custom platform.

Creating your own design may not match the glamour of owning this distinctive pair. Still, it does provide an avenue for you to exercise your creativity, crafting a pair that captures the overall theme and truly represents your personal style at a significantly lower cost.

Those with an eye on the F40 Nike Dunk Low “Liberty Walk” sneakers should sign up for Bob Ng’s website updates and mailing list for exclusive access to limited-edition launches. Meanwhile, you can also stay tuned to us for more custom sneaker designs and striking concepts like this one.
