A lot of the best customs end up being one-of-one creations. This is pretty much the case with the next sneaker on this list created by @thesurgeon exclusively for rapper Fat Joe. With its stunning white pebbled leather and blue gradient effect, it’s hard not to wish we owned a pair of these AJ2 “Gradient” sneakers. Unfortunately, you can’t purchase this one. But perhaps you’ll find something similar on the site?

6. Air Jordan 1 High Louis Vuitton “Camo Forest”

You can never go wrong with a classic combination like Air Jordan and Louis Vuitton, and this “Camo Forest” colourway by @thesurgeon adds a unique twist to the iconic combo. Constructed using the LV water-resistant Camo Windbreaker, these sneakers offer both style and practicality, giving these customs a huge thumbs up in our books.

5. Virgils S680 Air Jordan 1 High

This next design sees the merging of luxury cars and sneaker culture. The result? A custom sneaker that gives a perfect nod to Virgil Abloh’s luxury streetwear aesthetic. The stunning Air Jordan 1 High designed by John Trottier of @johnnyskicks was created as a tribute to the late designer. Known as Virgils S680 AJ1, this custom perfectly mirrors the aesthetic of the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680, which Abloh helped bring to life. And with its glossy patent leather upper, two-tone palette and intricate stitch details, it isn’t hard to catch the resemblance.

4. TMNT & Shredder Air Jordan 1

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have come back with a bang this year. And what better way to pay homage to their iconic return than with a custom AJ1 design? Well, custom sneaker designer Sean Fontenot of @colormefresh has done just that! But these customs aren’t just for the heroes in half-shells. Fans also get to appreciate the villainous Shredder with this unique design. The TMNT & Shredder Air Jordan 1 features a split concept that showcases both the Turtles and Shredder on their own shoe. The left shoe boasts the vibrant colours and signature weapons of the Turtles, while the right shoe showcases the menacing armour and blades of Shredder. This design perfectly captures the essence of both the heroes and the villains, and we can’t help but get caught up in all the beautiful attention to detail.

@bull_airs has been creating the kicks of every 80s and 90s kid’s wildest dreams. From Dunk Lows that resemble one of our favourite cyborg law enforcers Robocop, to Air Jordan 1s inspired by the classic rodent superheroes from another planet, Biker Mice from Mars, these custom sneaker designers have become a go-to for nostalgic sneakerheads looking to add a unique twist to their shoe game. However, one of their latest designs to capture our affection has to be these Air Jordan 1 High “Mirage Turtle” sneakers based on Mirage Studios TMNT comics. The sneaker features a predominantly white upper with black and red accents that pop against the clean canvas. While it’s not what we are used to seeing from custom TMNT sneakers, it’s a beautiful and highly welcome change. Sadly, this is a one-off commission and will not be available for purchase. Still, at least we get to admire and appreciate the creativity and craftsmanship behind these unique sneakers.

Another of Sean Fontenot’s customs to make the list (he truly is a master at what he does) is The Joker AJ1. This custom design pays tribute to the Clown Prince of Crime by combining different iterations of the infamous villain (including the animated series, comic books, and Heath Ledger’s live-action version) into one unique design. From his signature colours to iconic characteristics captured in each iteration, this custom sneaker truly captures the insanity that is The Joker.

And this custom design by @johnnyskicks is the perfect blend of sneaker culture and the iconic figure. Draped in intricately detailed black and yellow satin, the Bruce Lee Off-White Satin AJ1 Lux pays homage to the iconic martial artist and his famous movie jumpsuit while simultaneously incorporating the popular Off-White brand. With its bold colour scheme and attention to detail, this custom creation truly captures the essence of Bruce Lee’s legacy and the spirit of sneaker culture.
