Rumours arose last year that Jordan Brand would release a close-to-original version of the legendary Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” colourway through their Hi ’85 line. Well, it appears that the rumours were not wholly unfounded, as an image of the sneaker has recently surfaced online.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Artist Julian V.L. Gaines, who goes by Ju Working On Projects, posted an Instagram story with an early glimpse of the pending “Chicago” release. Having previously worked with both Jordan Brand and Nike, it’s clear that he’s one of the select few to have received an early pair of these highly-anticipated sneakers. He has also given us a decent look at the pair, which is fortunate for all of us.
Based on the first look images below, it would seem that the “Chicago” release stays true to its iconic roots, with the classic red, white, and black colour blocking (everything where it should be). The design also appears to feature the revised Swooshes, smaller Wings emblem, and shape adjustments that have been commonplace for the Hi ’85 series.
Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Chicago” Release Details
As for the release date, it’s still a bit of a mystery. While some sources suggest a fall 2025 drop on Nike SNKRS and select retailers, a reliable insider @mrunloved1s has hinted that we might have to wait a bit longer. With the AJ1 lineup already packed for 2025, we could be looking at a release in 2026 or 2027. But the uncertainty just makes us want a release that much more.
Stay tuned for updates, and look out for more AJ1 releases in 2025, such as the Air Jordan 1 High OG Rare Air “Deep Royal Blue,” the Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Toe”, and the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Varsity Red”. And remember to keep checking Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and news.

Are you looking forward to the release of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Chicago”?
