Chicago doesn’t do subtle when it loves one of its own, and Derrick Rose gets that nod. The Chicago Bulls will lift his No. 1 into the United Center ceiling on January 24, 2026, retiring his jersey. adidas isn’t missing the moment. It’s dropping a sneaker (the adidas Adizero Rose 1 “Retirement Ceremony”) made for the occasion, and it’s staying home: Chicago only.
The adidas Adizero Rose 1 “Retirement Ceremony” grabs Rose’s first signature shoe and leans into the original black and red colorway. The insole graphic shows a hand rising from behind the adidas logo to hold up a rose, along with the date: Jan. 24, 2026.

Instagram reactions are flying, like “Real one”, “Always Repping”, “Tuff”, “They lookin clean af ngl” and “He got the hook up”. You’ve seen the respect travel. Last week, Bulls guard Dalen Terry warmed up in the same shoe to honor Rose.
Why does this model keep coming back? adidas launched the Rose 1 in 2010 heading into Rose’s MVP season, and it wasn’t just a nameplate. The padded ankle with a cutout balanced flexibility and support through a GeoFit setup designed to work with Rose’s ankle brace. SprintSkin and SprintFrame showed up in the upper, while a podded PureMotion outsole pulled inspiration from adidas’ ’90s Feet You Wear. In 2023, adidas remastered the shoe as a “Restomod” with updated PureMotion and LightStrike tech. This pair keeps it classic, period.

The line later shifted to D Rose from the third shoe and reached 11 models, then spun off three more affordable D Rose Son of Chi pairs from 2021 to 2023. Rose also acted as a face for Fear of God’s now-shuttered adidas line and received a player-exclusive Basketball 2 colorway that released in December.
If you want the adidas Adizero Rose 1 “Retirement Ceremony”, act fast. Entries are open in the Foot Locker app, the price is $130, and limited pairs land at Chicago Foot Locker locations on January 17 too.
