While 2025 is known as the Year of the Snake in Chinese culture, the Swoosh celebrates it as the Year of the Mamba. Nike has already unveiled two Kobe 5 Protro “Year of the Mamba” colourways in eggplant and university red to honour Kobe Bryant’s moniker, the Black Mamba. However, Vanessa Bryant has recently teased a new Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Year of the Mamba” “Triple Black” pair on Instagram, which aptly reflects this moniker.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Similar to the previous versions released early this year, the design includes distinctive elements such as a scale-like pattern on the tongue and collar and a snake surrounding the Swoosh on both sides. However, everything is black in this instance. The Sheath logo on the tongue, which is finished in metallic gold, is the only touch of colour on this pair. There’s little doubt that if these new ‘Triple Black’ sneakers were released, they’d be a must-have for followers of the Black Mamba legacy.

Sadly, despite how beautiful this new colourway is, it is anticipated to be a player-exclusive design that will not be made available to the public. Go figure.
