Kobe Bryant’s signature line has been coming in strong since its relaunch with Nike Basketball last year. Drops like the Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch” and Kobe 4 “Girl Dad” are still on everyone’s must-have list even months after their official release. But next year promises its own set of highly anticipated releases, including the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Year of the Mamba” sneakers.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
The base of this design is a combination of Eggplant and Black hues that is reminiscent of the well-known Foamposite One colourway (a palette we’ve seen translated to the Nike Zoom LeBron 4 and NOCTA X Nike Hot Step 2 just this year). The sneaker also has numerous metallic gold accents throughout, including Kobe Bryant’s signature logo on the tongue, Chinese script on the back of the tongue, and a Year of the Snake graphic on the insole. But one of the shoe’s most notable features is a glittery gold snake design that entwines with the Nike Swoosh at the sides. Needless to say, the theme of this design fits perfectly with Kobe’s “Black Mamba” nickname, and it’s definitely one for fans to keep an eye out for in the coming year.
Nike Kobe 5 Protro Year of the Mamba Release Details
The “Year of the Mamba” design is set for release on February 8, 2025. Nike.com and select retailers will offer the pair in men’s and grade school sizes, priced at $190 USD and $120 USD.
However, with next year being the Year of the Snake, there will be plenty of slithery kicks to look forward to in the early months of 2025. Designs to look out for include the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake” and Air Jordan 11 Low CNY “Year Of The Snake”. But, in the meantime, make sure to follow Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker releases and reviews.
