2026 is opening the floodgates for revived fan-favourite Nike and Jordan silhouettes. Insiders have already revealed the return of designs like the Air Rejuven8, the Air Zoom Flight ’98, and a slightly modified version of the Jordan 15. That being said, there’s one rumoured comeback that’s definitely amped up the anticipation among sneakerheads: the Nike Total Foamposite Max.
Nike designer Frank Cooke practically sent sneakerheads into a frenzy when he hinted at a potential re-release of the shoe via his Instagram stories. One Instagram user wrote, “I haven’t bought shoes in a few years but ima come out of retirement for these!!!!!!” while another added, “I used to pray for times like this.”

The Nike Total Foamposite Max was a big hit when it was released back in 1998, thanks in part to San Antonio HOFers Tim Duncan and David Robinson and, of course, its unique design.
The shoes had the perfect look for that era: heavy, chunky, and somehow both futuristic and retro at the same time. You have the wavy foam uppers, a full-length visible Air Max unit, and the distinctive holographic logo at the ankle. With the ’90s and Y2K aesthetic now back in style, it honestly feels like the perfect time to pull this retro sneaker from the archives.

Of course, the Swoosh Label already brought these kicks back in the mid-2000s and again in 2011/2012. But it’s been over a decade since its last retro drop.
Although Cooke has already confirmed that a re-release is definitely in the works, he has also clarified that to get the best results, we likely won’t see the Nike Total Foamposite Max hit the shelves in 2026. Sure, that means fans may have to wait another year to get their hands on the Nike Total Foamposite Max, but it sounds like it will be worth it.
