Although Travis Scott has been focusing on launching his own signature shoes in 2024, it seems that the rapper is not quite finished with introducing new shades to Peter Moore’s famed 1985 creation, the Air Jordan 1. The future looks bright (quite literally) for those who enjoy the rapper’s collaboration with the Jordan Brand. Female sneakerheads can anticipate an exclusive treat in the form of a brand new colourway – the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Elkins”, which is set to drop in the next month.
The Inspiration Behind the New Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Elkins” Colourway
It’s not your usual La Flame colour palette. In a surprising turn from Scott’s traditional earthy colourways, this new Air Jordan 1 Low collab boasts an eye-catching blend of “Canary,” “Racer Blue,” “Light Silver,” and “Gum Medium Brown.” These hues are drawn directly from the colours of Elkins High School, Scott’s old stomping grounds.
The fact that he developed his profound interest in Broadway and performing arts during his time at the school, as confirmed in a 2018 chat with Jimmy Fallon, renders these kicks even more meaningful. So, if you’re a fan of Scotts AJ1 sneaker collabs (like Kevin Durant and Ben Affleck), then this drop isn’t to be overlooked.
A Closer Look at Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Elkins”
The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Elkins”, or “Canary” as it has been dubbed, boasts an all-leather construction that screams premium sneaker. The design starts with a white tumbled leather base with Scott’s iconic reverse Swoosh adorned in rich “Racer Blue” tumbled leather for a distinctive look. However, the real showstopper is undoubtedly the panels upon panels of bright “Canary” yellow overlays, stretching from the toe box all the way up to the heel.
The same pop of colour enriches the inner lining and laces for added uniformity. But these kicks do come with extra sets of blue and red laces so that you can switch up their look at will.
The colour play continues in the branding details, showcasing a red, blue, and white blend. The shoe’s tongue dons a striking red “Nike Air” logo coupled with “Racer Blue” for the Cactus Jack logo. From there, the heel sports the iconic AJ1 wings symbol and Scott’s trademark smiley face stitched in neat white threads.
Rounding out the design, a cool, clean “White” midsole pairs with a “Gum Medium Brown” outsole, giving the sneakers an extra special finish. Even though the colour explosion is a departure from Scott’s recent “Medium Olive” and “Black” choices, it delivers a colourful splash perfectly fitting for the upcoming summer days.
