It is always a beautiful day when fashion and technology come together in a show of gorgeous innovation, and that is precisely what happened on the 7th of May when Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, was seen wearing this gorgeous pair of Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Made on iPad” sneakers.
Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG “Made on iPad”
As usual, the name of the sneakers says it all. This pair of sneakers is a rendition of the gorgeous Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG sneakers, with a colourway made on iPad. Made in collaboration with Apple, the sneakers are a particular 1-of-1 pair that was designed specifically for the most recent live-streamed event.
Starting from the bottom, the sneakers have a stunning brown gum outsole topped by a white midsole with the distinctive Air sole showing through from the side.
The sneakers’ uppers are largely off-white, with an obvious section of bright embroidery—but a bit more on that later.
The toe, mudguard, and heel area feature off-white leather with black speckles, giving the otherwise white sneakers a gorgeous artistic flare. Thanks to its “Soft Wave” effect on the toe and mudguard, the Air Max 1 ’86 OG silhouette is slightly modified, offering a much softer design than usual.
The rest of the upper is comprised of off-white mesh, perfectly setting the stage for the focal point, the Nike Swoosh. To call that the focal point would be a little misleading, as the focal point is really the area surrounding the Swoosh.
This gorgeous area surrounding the Swoosh is embroidered with a prism of colours ranging from blue to green and all the rainbow colours in between. This stunning embroidery replicates sketch lines and is part of the sneakers explicitly made to announce the new Apple technology, as it replicates the sketch lines produced when working with the new Apple iPad Pro (with a new and improved M4 chip) and the Apple Pencil Pro.
Finally, the tongue proudly displays the inspiration for the sneakers, the Nike Swoosh logo and the text “Made on iPad”, making the design behind these sneakers incredibly clear.
One-Of-A-Kind Sneakers
Because these gorgeous sneakers were explicitly designed to accompany the unveiling of the revamped Apple products, they won’t be released to the public for purchase. While they will likely become a part of Tim Cook’s personal collection, we will likely see them again only in several years, possibly at auction.
That being said, the design isn’t so impossible to replicate that you might never see it again, and you could commission a pair from a custom artist.
Some comments have called the sneakers gorgeous, while others have said they are too plain to be as innovative as they claim to be.
