How do you pay your respects to a legend of hip-hop and sneaker culture? Well, if you’re Tinker Hatfield, you create a sketch inspired by the DJ and record producer’s Nike sneaker collabs. Of course, Hatfield, being as creative as he is, made sure to add a special touch to the design.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
Many may have heard of DJ Clark Kent’s passing on October 24th this year. But despite losing his battle with cancer, this great figure’s legacy lives on through the outpouring of tributes and memories from the lives he touched, including Nike’s own icon, Tinker Hatfield.
The sneaker designer turned to Instagram to share a sketch he created of DJ Clark Kent’s three-way collaboration with sportswear giant Nike and skateboarding brand Primitive. The Nike Dunk SB Low, introduced in 2013, included metallic silver at the forefoot and quarter panels, black on the inside lining and Swooshes, as well as neon green on the laces and branding. The most recognisable element, however, is the elephant print pattern surrounding the heel panel. But to make his sketch special, Hatfield incorporated DJ Clark Kent’s stage name into the design of the elephant print. A thoughtful gesture that we are confident many will appreciate.
Where To Get These Sneakers
The Nike SB Dunk Low Premium DJ Clark Kent Primitive 112 is currently available on resale platforms like eBay, GOAT, and StockX. Of course, the original design lacks the subtle tribute to the late DJ included in the elephant print pattern, but it’s still just as eye-catching.
If Nike SB’s Dunks are your model of choice, keep an eye out for upcoming releases such as the Wizard of Oz Dunk Low, the Antihero x Nike SB Dunk High, and the “City of Cinema” Dunk Low. Until then, stay tuned to Sneaker Fortress for more sneaker drops and reviews.
