What do cars and sneakers have in common? Both have become quintessential elements of style and self-expression. Whether we’re talking about the streamlined aesthetics and unrivalled performance of a Nissan Silvia S15 or the distinct hues and rare availability of Nike Dunk Low sneakers, the broad appeal of both is undeniable. Now, take these two iconic symbols of style and self-expression and imagine the possibilities when they come together. Well, you get these spectacular 2001 Nissan Silvia S15 “Mona Lisa” Nike Dunk Low custom sneakers.

Inspired By Tokyo Drift

Fast and Furious is a franchise that many of us are familiar with, but Tokyo Drift was an aspect of the series that truly took us by surprise. Upon its release in 2006, many were left scratching their heads, trying to fit the piece into the large jigsaw puzzle that constitutes the franchise. New faces, a different location, and focusing its lens on the vibrant culture of Japanese street racing gave this film a distinct flavour compared to the rest of the F&F saga.

But let’s not beat around the bush. Despite its differences, Tokyo Drift was the final instalment that truly captured the spirit of street racing. Post-Tokyo Drift, attention was diverted more towards grand heists and high-stakes spy missions. Thus, Tokyo Drift’s unique approach and emphasis on the raw thrill of street racing is actually what makes this film so enjoyable.

The film not only put the underground racing scene in the spotlight but also showcased the exhilarating sport of drifting. Amidst all this, we were introduced to the gorgeous 2001 Nissan Silvia S15, affectionately known as the “Mona Lisa”. This beauty, driven by Sean Boswell (played by Lucas Black) in his drifting debut, is the creative inspiration behind the stunning “Mona Lisa” Nike Dunk Low design. If, like us, this car managed to drive straight into your heart and you wish to wear its likeness on your feet, Mr Simply Custom has an offer you would not want to refuse—a chance to own a pair of these sneakers. But first, the details.

Closer Look at the Gorgeous Nissan Silvia “Mona Lisa” Nike Dunk Low

The Nissan Silvia was, dare we say, Han’s pride and joy- at least until it met an untimely end on a wall courtesy of Sean. During its short time on the screen, the vehicle showcased enviable specs such as Earl’s Performance steel braided lines adorned with anodised fittings, a sleek C-West body kit, Ganador side mirrors, and, to top it all off, Volk Racing grey GT-7 no.0355 19″ rims. Of course, none of the tech specifics have been emulated in the sneakers. However, what these kicks do capture is the utter aesthetic appeal of the car.

The sneakers, just like the car, showcase a stunning contrast of blue, orange and white colours on their uppers. The representation of the car’s likeness on these kicks is striking, to say the least.

The base of the sneaker is a dark blue shade that is broken by a bold orange strip that extends from the toe to the ankle flap. We also have the white stripes (sadly, not the famed rock duo from the early noughties) that sit above and below the orange boundary. The collar sports a deeper black, while the tongue stands out in white.

And for that added touch of authenticity we get all the beautiful decals from the actual vehicle placed strategically throughout the design. From the “West” logo on the toe box to the “Rays” motif towards the heel, no detail has been overlooked in this tribute to the iconic car.

Finally, there’s a classic white midsole and a black rubber outsole to round off the design. While I feel grey and black may have been more reminiscent of the car’s tyres, it’s still a stellar design that would be a hit with Tokyo Drift enthusiasts or anyone captivated by the car itself. So now we come to the moment we have all been waiting for, how to grab a pair of these beautiful kicks.
