Toy Story 5 has been in theaters since June 19 and is closing in on a $1 billion global box office, backed by the biggest opening weekend in franchise history. With Woody and Buzz Lightyear back at the centre of the cultural conversation, it’s worth revisiting a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Lows that got there first — DP Customs’ hand-painted tribute to Toy Story’s two most iconic toys, years before the movie’s box office run made headlines.
These Nike Air Force 1 Turned Woody and Buzz Into Wearable Art
DP Customs is at it again. This time, the Nike Air Force 1s are inspired by two of the most legendary characters in the toy world, Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story. The sneakers speak for themselves, but here are all the details you need to know.
On the 1st of May 2023, DP Customs posted a few pictures on their Instagram account of these adorable Nike Air Force 1 Lows that were inspired by the legendary toys from Toy Story. With one sneaker dedicated to Woody and the other devoted to Buzz Lightyear, this is a two-in-one that is worth it.
In the description of the post, DP Customs shares a sweet message, saying, “Right in childhood 💘 Happy Children’s Day! 🥳” as well as explaining that this isn’t the first time that they have created this design, but this time they decided to add the characters onto each sneaker, perfecting the technique.
Woody’s Nike Air Force 1 Nails Every Detail From Andy’s Room

Woody’s side has all of his signature elements, as well as some from Andy’s childhood room, like the clouds painted on the walls as the mid-foot panel, the toe tip being inspired by the white and blue carpet that covers the centre of the floor, and Andy’s name written on the side, the way that the child would write his name on the shoe of his toys to mark them as his.
The rest of the sneaker is all Woody, with the back part of the upper closer to the heel being a brown leather that matches Woody’s own boots and the signature Swoosh being the colour and pattern of Woody’s shirt, complete with a couple of his buttons at the front of the Swoosh. The yellow is also repeated on the NIKE branding on the midsole.
Of course, the design is completed with an image of Woody painted onto the upper near the heel, which is spectacularly done, and really brings all the sneaker elements together.
Buzz Lightyear’s Nike Air Force 1 Goes Full Space Ranger

Buzz Lightyear’s sneakers are a little more intricate, matching the intricate details of his infamous space suit. This time, the name written on the sneaker is Matias, either inspired by Toy Story 4 or by the customer who commissioned the design.
The sneaker features the signature lime green that makes up some of Buzz’s suit, both on the toe panel and the back panel near the heel. By the toe, you can see some of the stripes and dots that make up the controls on Buzz’s suit, adding to these sneakers’ impeccable level of detail.
The mid-foot panel of the upper is grey like the rest of Buzz’s suit, while the signature Swoosh is purple, which makes up the inner of Buzz’s suit.
The lace stays, which had been left untouched on the other sneaker, are painted intermittently with a red that matches the buttons of Buzz’s suit and the NIKE branding on the midsole.
Last but certainly not least, we get to see the stunning picture of Buzz on the back of the sneaker in astonishing detail. Again, this is an immaculate pair of sneakers.
Are These Toy Story Nike Air Force 1s Available to Buy?
Short answer: not off the shelf. These are one-off customs — DP Customs hand-paints existing Nike Air Force 1 Lows to order, so no two commissioned pairs are identical and there’s no general release, size run, or retail price attached to this specific Woody and Buzz colourway. If you want a pair like the one pictured here, the route is a direct commission through DP Customs’ Instagram, where pricing and turnaround are handled per order.
If you’d rather buy something official off the shelf, adidas released a licensed Toy Story 5 collection at retail in June, including a Buzz Lightyear Adistar Control 5 in full family sizing — see our coverage of the adidas x Toy Story 5 collection for pricing and where to buy. For more Toy Story customs, check out this Buzz Lightyear x Air Jordan 4 custom and this other Toy Story Nike Dunk Low featuring the full cast (a genuinely different silhouette from the same customizer).
Toy Story 5 isn’t just doing well — it’s on pace to become one of Pixar’s biggest films ever, and the timing makes DP Customs’ work look prescient rather than nostalgic. If you’re curious whether the movie itself lives up to the hype, our sister site Fortress of Solitude has the full review.
