Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Sneaker Gets A Hello Kitty Colourway

The upcoming release of the Hello Kitty adidas Samba has us all excited to embrace all things cute and stylish once more. From the teasers we have seen, this collaboration between the beloved Sanrio character and adidas promises to bring a fresh and playful twist to the classic Samba silhouette. Yet, it’s impossible to dismiss that a partnership with Nike previously birthed the Air Presto Hello Kitty sneaker. Although we commend this collaboration, we couldn’t help but ponder how striking it might have been if, instead of teaming up with Nike for the vibrant Air Presto Hello Kitty sneaker, the brand had turned to Nike’s sub-label, the Air Jordan 1, for their foundational design.

Well, thanks to the creative mind of Dariyn Enriquez of @dope_don_designs, our curious thoughts no longer need to linger. In his genius, Enriquez has birthed a prototype portraying what an Air Jordan Low meshed with Hello Kitty would look like, cleverly drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of another renowned sneaker, the Travis Scott x Jordan 1.

Hello Kitty Sneaker

In his rendition of the famed footwear, the inventive concept artist has beautifully washed the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 in calming hues of pink and plum, giving birth to a chic Hello Kitty sneaker. It’s so striking that even the gentlemen amongst us might want to flaunt a pair.

The trainers are bathed in a light pink base, juxtaposed with darker pink accents on the eye stays and heel. The mudguard flaunts a captivating plum shade, while Travis Scott’s iconic reverse swoosh stands out in mineral white. Suitably, the overlays and Swoosh are bordered with jet black, capturing Hello Kitty’s body outline.

We’re so accustomed to seeing Hello Kitty’s charming face plastered on everything from stationary to apparel; it’s somewhat peculiar not to find her face emblazoned across the mock-up sneaker design. Yet, it’s a refreshing break from tradition. While her lovely face is undeniably cute, the subtlety of the design is appreciated. It broadens the appeal to a larger audience than if her likeness had just been strewn all over the shoes.

Still, the concept sneaker subtly hints at her trademark details. The cute little bow ordinarily gracing her hair is cleverly located on the mudguard, while the alternate flower, occasionally replacing the bow, is fashionably emblazoned on the heel. These small elements subtly distil the essence of Hello Kitty without overwhelming the design. It’s an ingenious way of introducing her legendary elements, maintaining style and elegance without catering exclusively to a particular fan base. This unique fusion of subtlety and style is sure to appeal to both Hello Kitty lovers and anyone who values slick design.

Completing this stylish sneaker concept is a sail midsole, a black outsole and pretty pink laces that beautifully unify the design.  All in all, this Hello Kitty sneaker concept perfectly combines the princess of cuteness and Nike’s classic Dunk Low silhouette. Again, we love the subtlety of the design, but we appreciate that there are details that link this sneaker to Hello Kitty.

Would you have preferred Nike to release a Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 “Hello Kitty” sneaker instead of the Air Presto iteration?
