Nearly a decade after its last retro, Nike is preparing a huge comeback for one of the biggest Air Jordan 3 releases. For longtime collectors, the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” sits just below the holy trinity of “White Cement,” “Black Cement,” and “Fire Red,” but it’s arguably the most unique of the bunch.
The OG

First released in 1988, it stood out because it didn’t match Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls uniforms. That didn’t stop him from rocking them, though. He famously wore the True Blues in a 1988 NBA All-Star exhibition game against Team USA.
The True Blue has been retroed a few times

If you’ve been around the sneaker block, you’ll know this isn’t the first time the True Blue has resurfaced. They were retroed in 2001, came back in Europe in 2009, returned in 2011, and then dropped in 2016 with a design that made purists very happy: the OG “Nike Air” branding on the heel. That detail might sound small, but in sneaker culture it’s a big deal. It felt like Jordan Brand finally got the memo. That decision shaped future retros of both the AJ3 and AJ4, so odds are the 2026 version will retain that same design.
The Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” In 2026

The colorway itself hasn’t lost its charm. Clean white leather, cement grey elephant print, Varsity Red highlights, and, of course, that unmistakable True Blue detailing. It’s as classic as it gets. While the 2016 release was well received, some fans still nitpicked the shape. After all, once you’ve seen the flawless 1988 cut, you start to notice little things. With Jordan Brand’s more recent attention to detail, like 2024’s near-perfect “Black Cement” retro, there’s reason to believe the True Blue will finally get the love it deserves.
The new release date

According to reports from reliable sneaker leakers like @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, the Fall 2026 drop will land on SNKRS and select retailers with a $220 price tag. No images or official SKU numbers are floating around yet, but history tells us that’s enough to get the hype train rolling. By the time they arrive, it’ll have been ten years since anyone had a retail shot at a pair.
