New year, new me, and, more importantly, new stunning custom sneaker designs. The latest addition to the stunning and growing collection of sneakers that one of our favourite custom artists has added to their concepts collection are these vintage-inspired Super Mario Bros Nike SB Dunk Low “Level Up” sneakers. These sneakers are perfect for you if you love the classic Nintendo Entertainment System version of Super Mario or if you just love the franchise in general.

While the rest of us were on holiday, @dope_don_designs was busy cooking and coming up with even more stunning sneaker designs to share. One of the latest additions to his Instagram page is the stunning Super Mario Bros Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers.

Starting at the bottom, the outsole of the Super Mario Bros Nike SB Dunk Low is a stunning dark red, both to pay homage to the original cover of the Nintendo Entertainment System game cover as well as Mario’s original colouring. Complementing the dark red outsole, the midsole is a matt black rubber mirrored in the shade and finished further up on the sneaker with leather around the collar.

The upper is, without a doubt, a homage to the classic game. Starting with the exterior casing of the classic game, the majority of the leather overlays of the sneaker are greyish white meant to represent the cases in which the games would sometimes come in. The stitching around each edge of the overlay is a darker grey with simulated (and pixelated) shadows to show the depth of the sneaker.

The toe box of the sneaker is red, similar to the outsole. It mirrors the same pixelated shading technique on the other overlays throughout the sneaker. The lace stays are decorated similarly to the overlays but with a red centre that shares the same stitched border as the mudguard and the heel counter.

The quarter of the sneaker is the cheekiest part of this pair, bearing the original typography and logo of the Nintendo ES game, reading “Super Mario Bros” over “Nintendo Entertainment System” with the original artwork in the lower left corner.

While the laces that match Mario’s skin colour are a nice touch, my favourite part is the pixelated Nike Swoosh logo. Formed in shades of blue, with hard edges that make it look like it just hopped straight out of an 8-bit game, the Nike swoosh has highlights that make it look exactly like the bricks seen on the game’s cover and in gameplay.

Where the Nike SB Dunk would normally display some branding on the pull tab, this pair sports the little fire emblem seen on the cover of the game and the colours of the Action Series logo on the tongue tab.

To top off the design, the collar, inner lining, and tongue have all been kept matte black, so while they display different textures, they all work perfectly with the midsole of the sneakers and the rest of the shoe.

Keep your eyes peeled to see if these stunning sneakers are added to the Strike Collective site for pre-order and purchase if you want to add these epic Super Mario Bros Nike SB Dunk Low “Level Up” sneakers to your collection.
