The Air Jordan 15 is back. Again. And whether you love it, hate it, or pretend not to know what it is when someone points to it on your shelf, the “Black Muslin” Air Jordan 15 23RE is set to drop in Summer 2026. Yep, the most divisive sneaker in Jordan Brand history is making another comeback, and this time, it’s ditching the weird tongue.
First released in 1999, the Air Jordan 15 was designed by Tinker Hatfield, the man responsible for most of your favourite Js. But even he thinks the 15 missed the mark. In fact, he straight-up called it his worst design. And yet, like a bad sequel you secretly love, it keeps coming back, and somehow keeps selling out.
We last saw a release back in 2021, and now Jordan Brand is bringing it back as part of a bigger push to revive the “once forgotten retros.” That means we’re also getting fresh looks at the Air Jordan 16 and 18 in the coming years, but for now, the spotlight’s on this new “Black Muslin” 15.

So what’s different this time? For starters, the traditional tongue is gone. Instead, there’s a slightly taller shroud, which gives it a sleeker and, dare we say, more wearable silhouette. It’s subtle, but it fixes the biggest design complaint people had—the awkward, protruding tongue that looked like it was trying too hard to make a statement.
Now, if you’ve been paying attention to Instagram comments (we always do), the buzz around this release is surprisingly positive. “I hope this real because they need to bring the 15s back,” wrote one excited fan. Another added, “Looks better this way without the tongue sticking out,” and someone else declared, “About time we got some 15’s.” Even the haters seem to have taken a coffee break.
If you’re part of the crowd that’s been quietly hoping the 15 would make a comeback, 2026 is your year.
