Original Article: To honour the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5 silhouette in 2025, Jordan Brand intends to revive the “Fire Red Black Tongue,” an original colourway from the 1990 lineup.
A Closer Look At The Sneaker
It’s been more than a decade since this OG colourway was last released in 2013, so we’d say it’s about time this classic colourway made a comeback.
Sneakerheads can anticipate the same classic colour scheme, featuring premium white leather on the upper with tongue and side panels finished in a translucent mesh.
The sneaker’s most distinctive feature is its bold black tongue, which is complemented by matching details on the eyelets, midsole, and “shark teeth” detailing.
On the shoe’s lateral side, Michael Jordan’s jersey number “23” is embroidered in red, and many OG fans will appreciate that the heel is expected to bear the original “Nike Air” branding once again.
Last but not least, Fire Red accents on the sock liner, midsole, and lace locks complete the nostalgic style, accompanied by a translucent outsole underneath.
Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red Black Tongue” Release Details
This stylish colourway will be available in the Fall of 2025. While exact release details are unknown, the pair is expected to retail for $210 USD on Nike.com and at select retailers.
