Jarrod Saunders

Jarrod Saunders is the founder and Editor in Chief of Sneaker Fortress, and one of South Africa's most prominent sneaker writers. A lifelong collector based in Cape Town, he has built a personal collection of over 100 pairs — spanning Air Jordans, Nike, adidas, and rare collabs — and has covered the sneaker industry for over a decade across multiple platforms. He founded Sneaker Fortress in 2022, growing it into one of the world's biggest sneaker news destinations with over 14 million views in 2023 alone, and holds affiliate partnerships with Nike and strong relationships with Jordan Brand, adidas, PUMA, New Balance, Vans, and Converse.

Jarrod broke into media as a film and gaming critic for Vision Magazine in 2007, and over nearly 20 years has established himself as an award-winning creative director, editor, and publisher across the Fortress Entertainment network — which includes Fortress of Solitude, 23 Jumpman Street, and Lifestyle Fortress. His work has appeared on MSN, Apple News, and SmartNews via syndication. He is listed on IMDb as a filmmaker, having directed, written, and edited the Showmax feature film The Lifesaver and South Africa's first deaf film, Home.

At Sneaker Fortress, Jarrod covers breaking sneaker news, release dates, high-profile collaborations, and the intersection of sneaker culture with sport, music, and film. His writing draws on genuine collecting experience — he's the person who knows the history of a silhouette, tracks the colourway, and understands what makes a release worth your money.
