Many have shown their appreciation for The Super Mario Bros. Movie in different ways, whether that be creating interesting fan art, replaying the games or customising clothing items to match their favourite characters. We decided to jump on the bandwagon and took a page out of Andrew Chiou’s book by designing shoes themed after a beloved character: Luigi, the more timid yet better-loved of the two brothers. The customised Luigi Nike Air Force 1 Low sneakers brilliantly capture the essence of the character.

What the Luigi Shoes Look Like

Luigi Nike Air Force 1 sneakers

They wouldn’t be Luigi shoes if they weren’t primarily green, so many of the main panels are a very bright green that matches the iconic character’s shirt and cap. While the front panel of the shoe is just a light plain green, the other green panels have additional design details. The shoe is designed after a Mario level and features many key elements from the game, including warp pipes and the iconic pixelated clouds.

The outlining front panel is dark green and features a warp pipe alongside three gold coins. The back panel of the shoe is the largest and has the same green as the outlining front panel. The top of the panel has a small pixelated could, while the bottom features a Pixelated Luigi as he makes his way through the very green world towards the warp pipe.

The middle panel, which houses the beginnings of the Nike symbol, is a bright green and features a little 3D Luigi, which has been repeated to create a pattern. Finally, the main Nike Symbol stands out among the many hues of green as it is more olive-coloured than Luigi coloured.

The Nike symbol and lettering in the back panel of the shoe are done on a white background and are in the same shade of dark green as the outlining front panel and large back panel. The Nike symbol on the top of the tongue of the shoe is done in Luigi’s signature green.

While the shoe’s soles are primarily white, there is a line of blue all along the bottom of the shoe. The colour continues on the inside of the shoe and is reminiscent of Luigi and Mario’s iconic blue overalls. Finally, the sneaker’s laces are the same bright yellow as the buttons on Luigi’s overalls.

Thoughts on the Luigi Sneaker Design

Luigi Shoes

As stated before, the shoes do an excellent job of capturing the essence of the character and the games that made him and Mario famous. While there’s a lot of green, the panels of white help break the show up and keep it from being unbearable to look at.

There are specific designs that could have been better executed, and the olive green Nike symbol is a bit of an odd colour choice, but all in all, the shoes are a good representation of Luigi. We want these Luigi Nike sneakers.

TL;DR

  • We designed a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Low Sneakers after Luigi.
  • The shoes are designed to look like you are playing through a classic Mario game as Luigi.
  • There are a few questionable design choices, but overall, the shoes are designed with the perfect amount of green.

What do you think of the bright Luigi-themed Nike Air Force 1 Low Sneaker? Would you buy these Luigi shoes?
