It’s no surprise that the sneakers we sport undergo an extensive process of design and testing before hitting the shelves. This certainly applies to the dynamic collaboration between Fragment and Travis Scott on the Air Jordan 1 Low, released in August 2021. Like any other eagerly awaited sneaker drop, multiple samples were crafted before the final design was eventually chosen. One such sample has recently made its way online, showcasing an intriguing version that never reached the market.

A Closer Look at the Aesthetic Differences

Though this sample boasts the same smooth white leather base, the familiar black tongue and heel, and the signature sail and blue sole unit, the differences are pretty striking.

For instance, the leaked sample features blue overlays paired with La Flame’s unmistakable reverse Swoosh dipped in dark black. Although it might not have the same appeal as the retail version, it provides an intriguing glimpse into the creative evolution leading to the finished product. One element we particularly miss in this sample is the striking sail reverse Swoosh, which we think gave the 2021 retail release its distinctive flair.

Is this Sample Pair Available for Purchase?

As this unique sample design never reached the retail shelves, sneaker enthusiasts won’t be able to find this specific colour blocking for purchase. However, we can still appreciate the “what if” design and perhaps even customise a pair to capture its unique allure.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for some of Travis Scott’s highly anticipated future releases, such as the “Dark Mocha” Jordan Jumpman Jack or the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 “Pink” Pack slated for 2025.
