Travis Scott has undoubtedly made his mark in the sneaker game with a string of successful collaborations under his belt. His partnership with Jordan Brand, in particular, has borne some tantalising fruits. Among these, the Air Jordan 1 “Mocha” designs from 2019 have perhaps been his most coveted releases. Now, this fan-favourite colourway is being reintroduced, this time featured on the multi-talented rapper’s very own signature shoe- the Travis Scott x Jordan Jumpman Jack “Dark Mocha.

A Closer Look at the Jordan Jumpman Jack “Dark Mocha”

We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the dynamic rapper and style icon Travis Scott’s first signature shoe with Jordan Brand, the Jordan Jumpman Jack, to be dipped in the famed “Mocha” colourway.

Considering the game-changing impact of his previous Air Jordan 1 collaborations featuring the same colourway, it’s hardly surprising that La Flame has decided to return to this truly iconic palette. 

However, this sneaker isn’t a replica of the former designs. Instead, it creatively borrows from the colour configurations of both the high-top and low-top Jordan 1 silhouette to add a refreshing spin to the classic “Mocha” theme. 

To illustrate, the sneaker employs a black canvas base with a rich, dark brown suede overlay and closure strap, reminiscent of his earlier low-top AJ1 duo. Despite this, the distinctive reverse and medial Swooshes are crafted in sleek, dark black leather, a not-so-subtle nod to his preceding “Mocha” high. 

The familiar Jumpman Jack branding cues are aligned perfectly with Scott’s established aesthetic. This includes the playful black smiley face logo stylishly embroidered on the heel and the crisp “JACK” text assembled on the outsole, all seemingly absorbing the Mocha theme. Finally, the midnight black reappears to add the finishing touch to the colourway, adorning the sole unit and laces. 

Safe to say, this particular iteration is another must-have in Travis Scott’s catalogue of “Mocha” infused creations. If I were to point out a flaw, I’d have expected the inclusion of a few bold red accents, but that’s purely based on my own taste – and, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 

Release Details for the Sneaker 

As it currently stands, neither Travis Scott nor Jordan Brand has officially announced the release date for the much-coveted Jordan Jumpman Jack in this coveted “Mocha” colourway. Nonetheless, there have been whispers going around hinting at a potential release on October 4, 2024. 

Once released, the Travis Scott x Jordan Jumpman Jack “Dark Mocha” can be purchased from Nike.com or specific Jordan Brand retailers. In keeping with previous launches, it’s expected to be priced at $200 USD for men’s sizes. 

If you’ve been trying to keep up with the numerous colourways of the Jumpman Jack, it’s getting to be quite the collection. We’ve seen “Sail” and “University Red,” which have already hit the market, and then there’s still “Cream,” “Thunder Blue,” and this much anticipated “Mocha” edition. 

Of course, reports suggest even more colour selections for Travis Scott’s signature shoe will be available in 2024. This means a further buffet of distinct and eye-catching versions to opt for—my fingers are crossed for the release of the crimson pair he wore during Super Bowl 58.
