These Air Jordan 1 x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle "Sewer Stompers" Sneakers Are Amazing

Back then, the Ninja Turtles were everywhere – from television screens to toy stores where their action figures flew off the shelves faster than you could say “cowabunga”. And with the Turtle Brothers rising from the sewers to make an epic return to the big screen in 2023, there’s been a ton of new merchandise flooding the market, much like these exquisite Ninja Turtle sneakers by Thomas Bulman and his team from @bull_airs, quite aptly named the “Sewer Stompers” Air Jordan 1 High.

This custom sneaker flawlessly incorporates a mix of colours and materials that portray the characters in all their glory. For instance, brown tumbled leather dresses the quarter panel and toe with a matching rubber shell pattern on the heel, wings, and straps. These details are a delightful nod to the turtles’ shells and certainly stand out on the sneakers. While some iterations of the heroes may showcase the heroes with a dark green shell, this design takes its cues from the Mirage comic book series and 90s movies (as well as some other incarnations) where the turtles donned brown shells.

From there, a soft Italian suede marks the toe-box and collar in a vibrant green shade that reflects the colour of the turtles’ skin. This colour stands out beautifully against the brown leather that surrounds it.

The soft splashes of yellow seen throughout the shoe creatively encapsulate the underside or the belly of the turtles. You can spot this shade on the suede adorning the heel and collar region, as well as on the luxurious pigskin leather tongue. If you look closely at the tongue, you will also find a rubberised logo that showcases the Bull Airs insignia placed atop an NYC sewer cover. This subtle detail pays homage to the turtles’ underground origins and adds a unique touch of branding to the design.

Of course, any true homage to the Ninja Turtles would be incomplete without their favourite food – pizza! Hence, you’ll find enticing images of pepperoni slices and gooey cheese neatly spread across the insoles. Is anyone else getting hungry?

But the pièce de résistance has to be the embroidered, interchangeable Swoosh patches. Each patch features a turtle’s eyes and unique mask, enabling you to display your preferred character. With a total of 16 patches—four sets for each turtle—you choose who you represent. Whether it’s Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, or Raphael, these sneakers let you flaunt your favourite turtle.
