Topanga’s Danielle Fishel Sneakers Earn Nigel Sylvester Nod

Danielle Fishel's new "Sneakers of the Week" Instagram video has fans, Nigel Sylvester and Champs Sports all calling for a Jordan Brand collab.

Boy Meets World might have ended twenty-six years ago, but fans are still talking about the show and its characters today. And although Danielle Fishel has now made a life for herself beyond just being the show’s leading lady, for most people, she’ll always still be Topanga Lawrence. So, even when she pulls out an impressive sneaker collection on Instagram, like she did this week, everyone instantly thinks, “Wow, Topanga is a sneakerhead.”

Fishel, who now goes by Danielle Fishel Karp, took to Instagram to share a fresh “Sneakers of the Week” video, captioned: “Nikes on my feet so the cyphers complete…” The actress labeled each of the six pairs of sneakers with a one-liner as she walked them in front of the camera:

  • Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 “Stream Planet” — “Frog now”
  • Air Jordan 4 “Pearl Pink and Ice Carmine” — “I love that they’re denim”
  • Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 “Brick After Brick” — “thanks Shoe Hefner I think I’m going to start BMX’ing”
  • Nike SB Dunk Low “Jarritos” — “Just as sweet as the soda”
  • Air Jordan 3 Teyana Taylor “Concrete Rose” — “Nearly died when I won these on SNKRS”
  • Air Jordan 4 “Flight Club” — “A perfect twist on a classic”

That third pair, of course, is what really got the sneaker world’s attention, and that includes Nigel Sylvester himself, who shared three brick emojis in the comments section in approval of the collection (which of course includes Nigel Sylvester’s very sought-after “Brick After Brick” Air Jordan 4). The shoe was part of his ongoing Bike Air collaboration with Jordan Brand, and hit shelves in May for $230.

Champs Sports, the popular US sports retail store, also joined the comments section with: “Ummm we need to do a collab sis ❤️”

But the comments section in general is flooded with love from fans and popular sneaker accounts.

And, if we’re honest, it’s the kind of reaction that begs the obvious question: Could a Topanga x Jordan Brand collaboration actually happen?

It should. It would make perfect sense, especially considering the nostalgia factor. But, of course, it’s far too early to say anything official is in the works. That said, Fishel has built a genuine case for herself over the years. This isn’t a one-off flex for the cameras; she’s previously walked fans through a closet stacked with grail-level Jordan and Nike collaborations.

Plus, she’s spoken openly about chasing releases through the SNKRS app, including the Teyana Taylor “Concrete Rose” 3s she says she “nearly died” winning. That’s not the type of language someone uses who gets sent boxes for free.

And with over 1.8 million Instagram followers that spans three generations of Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World fans, Fishel would bring a genuinely different audience to a Jordan Brand release than the label’s usual roster of collaborators.

For now, Champs Sports’ comment is the closest thing to an official nudge toward a collab. Whether Jordan Brand is listening is a different question entirely.

Fishel has been in the headlines for other reasons this week too, opening up about why she thinks she got labeled “difficult” in the years since Boy Meets World wrapped. It’s a good reminder that there’s a lot more going on with Topanga these days than a shoe rotation, even if the shoe rotation is objectively excellent.
