Nike and Jordan Brand are set to release a number of highly anticipated sneakers in black and yellow colourways this year. Some releases, such as the Nike Dunk Highs that will be available in November, are inspired by the iconic ’90s hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, whereas others, such as the most recent Air Jordan 4 RM colourway, are influenced by none other than the martial arts legend himself, Bruce Lee. As for the latest Nike LeBron Witness 8 colourway, it falls into the latter category. Its black and yellow colour scheme pays homage to Bruce Lee’s iconic jumpsuit from the film Game of Death.

A Closer Look At The Sneaker

Lee’s well-known jumpsuit has served as the inspiration for a number of Nike basketball sneakers to date, the most prominent of which is the Nike Kobe 5 Protro ‘Bruce Lee. Yet despite the fact that these kicks all use the same colour scheme—black, yellow, and red—each one is distinct thanks to its compositional differences.

For example, the LeBron Witness 8 “Bruce Lee” has a yellow engineered mesh upper with black accents on the quilted panel extending from the tongue to the midsole, referencing the stripes on Lee’s jumpsuit. But the scratch marks seen on Kobe’s shoes’ are replaced by four red lace tabs.

The shoe also boasts black patent leather Swooshes trimmed with vibrant red thread. And to pay respect to the King? The tongue and heel feature bold lion logos.

Does this design overshadow Kobe’s Bruce Lee colour scheme? Most likely not. But fans of the silhouette and anyone unwilling to spend at least four times as much on resale platforms for a Kobe 5 Protro “Bruce Lee” will find it to be a good substitute.

This new “Bruce Lee” design will be available for purchase during the Holiday 2024 season. Sneakerheads can anticipate that the LeBron Witness 8 colourway to retail for $110 USD in men’s sizes on Nike.com and at select retailers.
