Over the past few months, we’ve been posting a ton of sneakers inspired by iconic cartoon and video game characters from the ’80s. There’s no doubt that these nostalgic designs, including favourites like Super Mario Bros. and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, have transported us back to our childhoods. But we’ve yet to explore the planet of Eternia. However, Sean Fontenot of @colormefresh cooked up a beautiful pair of Air Jordan 1 sneakers inspired by He-Man to dive into.
Fontenot’s design references both Castle Grayskull (the fortress for He-Man and his allies) and Snake Mountain (the lair of Skeletor). The two adversaries often battled in these locations, and it became just as important in the story as the characters themselves.

To reflect the duality between the two locations and their respective characters, Fontenot opted for a split shoe design. The left He-Man Air Jordan 1 sneaker features jade green and brown tones as a nod to the walls of Castle Grayskull, while the right sneaker opts for dark purple and black hues that reflect the eerie feel of Snake Mountain.
The Grayskull sneaker also offers a graphic of the fortress’s skull-shaped entrance as well as a painting of He-Man and his trusted ally, Man at Arms, on the upper. On the other hand, the Snake Mountain side has menacing snake and spike details included on the upper. Oh, and let’s not forget the inclusion of the infamous Skeletor and his loyal henchwoman, Evil-Lyn, on the sides.
Both designs come together with touches of lava painted throughout the uppers. Honestly, these are just really beautiful and detailed sneakers that bring back a flood of He-Man nostalgia.

This particular design has already sold out, and Fontenot will unfortunately not reproduce any of his designs. But you can check out his online store to commission your very own He-Man sneakers. You would need to specify whether you want to be able to wear the shoe or only use it as a display piece.
