Nike has been chasing Kanye West and Adidas’ Yeezy slides for a while now. And though most of their efforts have been good, none of them have been as revolutionary. Until now. Nike’s latest concept, the Mind 001 and Mind 002, sold out in seconds when it released this month. Have they finally cracked the code? It would seem so. Now, you can probably expect a lot more colorways and collabs to follow. The first has already been teased by Japanese designer and musician Hiroshi Fujiwara, who shared images of the Fragment x Nike Mind 001 on Instagram.
The Mind 002 and its mule sibling, the Mind 001, landed on Nike’s digital stores this week and then vanished fast. Really fast. Full sell-outs on Nike’s site. Same story at retailers. But what else would you expect from a shoe that’s been hyped as the next evolution in sneaker technology?

According to Nike, the design, specifically the footbed, has been 10 years in the making, with the big idea being that the shoes now have nodes placed at pressure points meant to relax and sharpen your focus. While it’s supposed to be made with athletes in mind (apparently to help with pre-game nerves and post-game decompression), the general public and sneakerheads want to test it out for themselves.
“For 45 years, Nike has studied the body in motion — how muscles fire, how joints move, how oxygen fuels performance,” said Matthew Nurse, Nike’s vice president and chief science officer, in an October interview with WWD. “Now we’re expanding into the mind.”
Now those groundbreaking shoes are here. And everyone wants more. Thankfully, Hiroshi Fujiwara, the Fragment founder, teased the Fragment x Nike Mind 001 on Instagram, and yes, it looks exactly how you’d expect. Mostly black with orange swapped out for blue, and the Fragment logos replacing some of the Nike logos.

Fragment already has another collaboration lined up for spring, teaming with Union on a trio of Air Jordan 1s for 2026. But this one is a little different.
The Fragment x Nike Mind 001 is expected to release this spring. Pricing hasn’t surfaced yet.
