While three-way collaborations are still more rare in the world of sneakers, we are definitely seeing more of this type of meeting of minds than ever before. Just this year, Marvel, Kith, and Asics worked together on a set of “Super Villain” sneakers that grabbed everyone’s attention (mainly due to their Marvel-lous packaging). At the same time, Jordan Brand is said to have plans to bring Union and Fragment together on an Air Jordan 1 design in 2025. But, as tempting as these partnerships may be, custom shoe artist John Trottier (@johnnyskicks_) has envisioned another sneaker trio that we really want to see realised with his KAWS x Dior Air Jordan 1 concept.
A Closer Look At The Design
For those who might not be aware, the design is based on Dior’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection, which Kim Jones created in partnership with well-known artist Brian Donnelly, known professionally as KAWS. The collection included a Dior BFF in a black and pink colour scheme as well as a variety of clothing and accessories in the same palette.
Drawing from this colour combo, Trottier covers the forefoot of this Air Jordan 1 design in black suede, while the quarter panel and heel are coated in a pink variation of the plush fabric. Naturally, you also get KAWS’s iconic Mickey Mouse-like hands from their “Companion” creation sewn into the design. The shoe is then completed with co-branding pieces on the tongue and heel, a black midsole, and a white rubber outsole.
We’re all for the pink and black Dior colourway, and the trademark KAWS additions make this pair even better. However, it’s always bittersweet knowing that we might never see an official Dior, KAWS, and Jordan collaboration…but here’s hoping. Considering that the Jumpman Label has previously collaborated with both of these names, we’d say it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Where To Get A KAWS x Dior Air Jordan 1 Sneaker
While we wait for such a day, you can message Trottier to ask him to cook up a pair of this special three-way collaboration for you. Or you can have a look at more of the artists’ KAWS-inspired footwear on our site, including the colourful KAWS x Levi’s Air Jordan 4 or the grey and teal Air Jordan 1 KAWS. And remember to follow us here at Sneaker Fortress for more custom and concept kicks.
