Nike Basketball’s G.T. Future might be the new kid on the block, but it’s already carrying the kind of hype that usually takes a sneaker years to build. First spotted during NBA All-Star Weekend, the silhouette looks like something Marty McFly would’ve laced up if Back to the Future 4 ever got made. And come Summer 2026, Nike is dropping the G.T. Future in a “Galaxy” colorway that throws it right into Foamposite legend territory.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it should. In 2012, the Air Foamposite One “Galaxy” caused absolute chaos at release. We’re talking resale prices in the thousands and people willing to trade an actual 1996 Chevy Cavalier for a pair. Police were called to sneaker shops. Craigslist was flooded with desperate posts. It was mayhem. So, yeah, applying that same cosmic print to Nike’s Greater Than series makes perfect sense.
According to Sole Retriever, the G.T. Future “Galaxy” will feature a molded Foamposite upper drenched in a purple-tinted nebula design, with solid black touches across the tongue, sockliner, internal bootie, Swoosh, and outsole. Expect glow-in-the-dark accents on the tongue and Swooshes, plus custom packaging to push the theme even further.
Tech-wise, Nike isn’t skimping either. A full-length Zoom Strobel, forefoot Air Zoom, and Cushlon 3.0 foam give it all the bounce you’d expect from a Nike basketball sneaker.

Official images haven’t dropped yet, but speculative mock-ups already have fans foaming at the mouth. On Instagram, comments range from “NEED’EM 😮” to “Foamposite 2.0.” One user summed it up best: “Need these but after the taxi I’m retired 😢.” At $200 a pair, the G.T. Future isn’t cheap, but compared to selling your car for shoes, it feels like a bargain.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Nike has connected the G.T. Future to Foamposite lore. The sneaker borrows design language from the 1997 beetle-inspired classic while also nodding to the Zoom Hyperflight of 2001. Its glossy, contoured shell instantly recalls the early 2000s hoops era, just updated for today’s game.
And if you’ve been following the rollout, you’ll know rapper Wale has already been championing the silhouette. At NBA All-Star 2025 in Oakland, he debuted an orange pair, then flexed a “Copper Egg” colorway at Nike’s Foamposite Galaxy party. True to form, Wale stays ahead of the curve when it comes to early sneaker heat.
The Nike G.T. Future “Galaxy” lands Summer 2026 in men’s sizing for $200 via Nike.com and select retailers.
