The SL72 sneaker has seen a resurgence in the market in 2024, with the adidas Originals team refreshing the classic silhouette from its archives. The brand has joined forces with Sporty & Rich for the latest collection of the SL72, delivering three new curated colourways.
The Sporty & Rich brand was founded by Emily Oberg in 2014 and began as a mood board for her life through a series of images from her past and present that represented life surrounded by beauty. It grew into a print magazine, covering the latest fashion and design, iconic figures and forgotten moments and places. It is with this in mind that the collaboration came together, featuring a distinct aesthetic from the 70s to reimagine the adidas SL72.
adidas’ T-toe sneaker series has been a standout in recent months, and the brand continues to breathe life into timeless classics. These pieces include the Samba, Gazelle, Spezial and SL72. The adidas Originals x Rich & Sporty SL72 is a deep-cut homage to the archive. It has been reborn for the streets today.
The design features a nylon upper with suede overlays and leather stripes to give it that premium look and feel. Its contrasting colours on each of the three colourways define the palettes from yesteryear to complete the signature style. It looks sophisticated while at the same time features an air of simplicity to go with any look.
