This year has already seen the debut of several distinctive and striking custom sneaker designs we’ve been ogling. But another release sneakerheads won’t want to miss in 2025 is the exclusive ‘Fuel Force’ Air Force 1 series, a creation by the talented sneaker artist Edmond Looi (@edmondlooi) .
A Closer Look At The Design
What is the recurrent theme of these Air Force 1 “Fuel Force” designs? The medial and lateral sides of the shoe always feature a skeleton-like design intended to resemble the foot of a fossilised dinosaur. The skeleton design on the side somewhat reminds us of Nike’s Halloween-themed AF1 releases. However, where the Swoosh label opted to use a printed graphic on the sides of their design, Looi takes things a step further by cutting out the bone layout and roughly stitching them closed with padded fabrics. Overall, this gives the shoe a more textured and three-dimensional look.
Looi has been crafting these unique masterpieces by hand since 2022. Even while the skeleton theme appears frequently in his work (including some other models), each pair is a unique marvel, using various colour schemes and materials to give them a sense of personalisation. But with new and exciting opportunities on the horizon for the Malaysian artist, expect to see fewer and fewer of these handcrafted AF1 customs being created each year. In short, there’s no better time than the present to get a pair of these incredible “Fuel Force” AF 1 sneakers for your collection.
