The Joker Kobe 8: Not Just Your Average Green And Purple Sneaker

Joker Kobe 8

At Sneaker Fortress, we’re huge fans of sneaker designs inspired by Gotham’s perennial prankster, the Joker. Although we are always eagerly anticipating the next official Joker-inspired sneaker release, for now, we take solace in the sheer number of exceptional custom designs available for us to gawk at. One we find particularly intriguing is the stunning “Joker” Kobe 8 sneakers created by none other than Lloyd Ferguson, or as he’s fondly known amongst sneaker-heads, Swaggy Picasso.

Not Just any Green and Purple Sneaker

The Joker, easily everyone’s favourite classic DC villain, has always been seen sporting hues of green and purple. Interestingly, this colour scheme isn’t unique to him but is actually a common thread among some of pop culture’s most notorious baddies. Green Goblin, The Riddler, and Loki are all additional examples of beloved villains wearing these eye-catching hues. The implication is hard to ignore – green and purple are truly the colours of chaotic troublemakers!

Of course, none of these colourful villains match up to the Joker’s style – that trademark purple suit and green hair are nothing short of iconic. Lucky for us, Swaggy Picasso, with his eye for intricate design, has crafted an array of Joker-inspired sneakers. His use of the signature villain colour combo is nothing short of spectacular, and the Kobe 8s are a shining example.

For starters, the sneakers’ engineered mesh upper is mainly covered in a deep purple shade that immediately brings to mind the Joker’s iconic suit. In a twist of intrigue, you’ll also notice a soft splatter of red paint across the upper.

Moving on from there, the red profile Swooshes, lined in black, capture the Joker’s notorious grin. Even his signature mania-inducing laughter finds its way into the design, forming a repetitive motif that can be seen throughout the upper.

Of course, nods to his other trademarks are also present. You will notice the famous “why so serious” catchphrase from the Dark Knight trilogy on the toe box- a nod to Heath Ledger’s unbeatable portrayal of Joker in the Dark Knight trilogy. Accompanying this, you’ll also find “smile” stamped across the toe box in stark white and black print. And how could anyone forget those signature green locks? Artfully mimicking this, the shoe laces and heel counter come in a vibrant shade of green, ensuring a striking contrast.

To complete the distinctive Joker-esque aesthetic, a white midsole and outsole are dotted with bright red paint splatters. All the design details on this pair come together to create a sneaker that is bold, eye-catching, and unmistakably inspired by the iconic villain from DC Comics – not just any old purple and green villain.

Where To Get Your Joker-Inspired Kicks

Sadly, this particular “Joker” Kobe 8 sneaker is a one-of-one design custom-tailored for the Saint Joseph’s Hawks Guard Erik Reynolds II. He isn’t shy about showing off his unique kicks during games, either. However, while you can’t get your hands on this exact pair, you can still own a similar piece of sneaker art.

What do you think of the “Joker” Kobe 8 sneaker? Is this style something you would wear, or would you prefer another purple and green villain instead?
