Most of us are familiar with the classic Nike and Air Jordan silhouettes; your typical designs, with pretty colourways and details that most people would buy without hesitation. But there’s certainly more to the Nike and Air Jordan lineup than just these offerings. The labels also stock some less popular more unusual styles that tend to slip under the radar. From futuristic-looking boots that can warm your feet to laceless Jordan 1 sneakers, we’ve compiled a list of all the unusual Nike and Air Jordan shoes to consider adding to your rotation.

The Jordan Loafer Mule Nobody Asked For (But Everyone’s Talking About)

If anyone had told me Jordan Brand would be adding loafers to their lineup in 2025, I would have never believed it. But that’s exactly what the Jumpman Label has planned for its female audience this year. Mind you, it’s not your average-looking loafer. This design has a single-piece leather upper, a slip-on style opening, and a multi-stack platform sole that, for better or worse, is pretty hard to ignore.

Nike and Jordan Brand’s most unusual shoes feature an RTNA coating that selectively reflects light wavelengths to produce different colours without the need for pigments or dyes. These Jordan 3 sneakers, although not for sale, were on display at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in England in 2021 and are now likely sitting in someone’s private collection. Find out more about the Air Jordan 3 RTNA.

A Laceless Jordan 1. No, That’s Not a Typo

The Jumpman Label also offers a golf-ready mule version of the Air Jordan 1 silhouette. While that doesn’t sound too surprising, we probably should have added that the design is completely laceless. No laces; just the eyestays and an empty spot where the shoestrings would have been. But as odd as it sounds, the Air Jordan Mule has received plenty of positive feedback and comes in some chic colourways.

Nike Built a Boot That Massages and Heats Your Feet on the Go

A pair of shoes that massages and heats your feet on the go? Say less! Sure, the style is a bit odd-looking and bound to elicit plenty of questions when worn out of the house, but who wouldn’t prefer that over aching, tired feet after a long day?

The Sci-Fi Sandal Nike Somehow Got Away With

The Swoosh Label’s Air Max Isla sandals look like something you’d see in a futuristic sci-fi flick. They boast thickly padded forefoot straps that twist over each other and a chunky sole unit to match its oversized theme. Still, I’d fight an alien or two to sink my feet into these unusual but comfy Nike shoes.

The Running Shoe, Moccasin, and Loafer That Got Drunk and Had a Baby

The Free Forward Moc N7 is the running shoe/moccasin/loafer hybrid you didn’t realise you needed in the first place. What other shoe can take you from a morning run to a business meeting without sacrificing on any front? That’s all I’m going to say. Find out more about the Nike Free Forward Moc N7.

Jordan Brand Went Full Grunge and We’re Still Processing It

As much as I would wear these boots, it’s still so strange to see the Jordan 1 silhouette reimagined in grunge style. These shoes come in both high- and low-top styles, with certain colourways even featuring the model fully covered in pony hair.

The Shoe Kendrick Lamar Wore to a Red Carpet Has Springs in the Heel

The Swoosh Label’s Shox R4 looks mostly like your average sneaker, aside from the visible columns poking out at the heel. The shoes were originally created to support the stride of runners, but these days, you could just as easily spot them on a red carpet or just about anywhere Kendrick Lamar could wear them.

Nike’s Answer to Crocs Looks Like Darkwing Duck’s Bill

Nike ReactX Rejuven8

The ReactX Rejuven8 recovery shoe is Nike’s answer to Crocs’ beloved comfort-first clogs. It has the futuristic style of the Yeezy Foam Runner, the rippled pattern of Crocs’ Echo Wave design, and the shape of Darkwing Duck’s bill. We bet you can’t unsee the resemblance now.

The Dad Sandal Got a Villain Arc — and We Kind of Love It

The Nike Air Max Koko is a lot to digest. To me, it looks like the dad sandal was given a funky makeover by means of an extra chunky sole unit with a wavy accent detail slapped in the middle of it. But these get excellent reviews, so Nike must be doing something right.
