Michael Jordan never forgot The Shot, and neither did the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, Jordan Brand is bringing that unforgettable playoff moment back in sneaker form. According to Sneaker Files and @zsneakerheadz, the Air Jordan 8 Retro will be dropping in a new “Cavs” colorway during fall 2026. Yes, the very same Cavs team MJ buried in 1989 with a jumper that instantly became NBA folklore.
The upcoming Air Jordan 8 Retro “Cavs” takes its cues from the Cleveland uniforms of the late ’80s and early ’90s, draped in Black, Racer Blue, and Safety Orange. If those colors sound familiar, that’s because Jordan Brand used the same palette on the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Cavs” in 2012, which paid homage to MJ’s game-winning shot in the playoffs. Early mock-ups suggest an all-black nubuck upper with bold hits of orange and blue on the abstract overlays and tongue logo. A blue heel pull tab and solid black outsole round things out. While official images aren’t here yet, the mock-ups already have fans talking.

For context, the Cavs colorway nods to May 7, 1989, when Michael Jordan rose up at the free-throw line and nailed a jumper over Ehlo to clinch the series. That single bucket knocked Cleveland out of the playoffs and instantly became one of MJ’s defining moments. The Jordan 4 “Cavs” was a direct tribute to that moment, while the Jordan 8 takes a looser, but still symbolic, approach. The 8s, after all, didn’t release until 1993, right in the heart of Jordan’s first three-peat run.
The Air Jordan 8 “Cavs” won’t land until Fall 2026, carrying a retail tag of $205 and style code 305381-005. You’ll be able to cop them through Nike’s SNKRS app and select Jordan Brand retailers. That price and timing also make it the third major Jordan 8 release within a single year. In 2025, Jordan Brand already brought back the Aqua 8s in July and is lining up the fan-favorite Bugs Bunny 8s for November. Adding the Cavs edition in 2026 suggests a bigger push for the silhouette.
