This striking "Cyber Metallic" colourway brings a bold, futuristic look to James Harden's upcoming adidas Harden Volume 9.

While there’s still more to come from James Harden’s eighth signature shoe with adidas, the Three Stripes has already given us a sneak peek at the upcoming Harden Volume 9 in a striking “Cyber Metallic” colourway.

A Closer Look at the Sneaker

The aesthetics of this new model take a very slight detour from previous iterations, though still adhering to the futuristic look of the signature lines last two models. The classic black knit sock bootie still remains, ensuring the same snug and supportive fit for your feet. But where things really get exciting is on the side panels. They’ve been reimagined with a curvy design featuring three distinct cutouts that reveal the knit underneath (this is adidas, after all). This cage-like structure with its “Cyber Metallic” sheen works wonders to boost the model’s futuristic appeal.

On the tech side, the Harden Vol. 9 features a metallic silver midsole that combines LightBoost and Lightstrike technologies. LightBoost, a responsive cushioning system, and Lightstrike, a lightweight and flexible midsole material, work together to provide superior comfort and performance. Added stability and responsiveness come from a full-length torsion bar, making them perfect for the court. Finally, a black outsole with a “Lucid Red” traction pattern rounds off the sophisticated design of the Harden Vol. 9.

Sure, this “Cyber Metallic” Harden Vol. 9 is visually impressive with its advanced design and metallic highlights. However, you can’t help but notice its similarities to Anthony Edwards’ first signature shoe, the adidas AE 1. The design seems to be a natural evolution from the AE1’s aesthetics. In fact, I actually mistook them for a new AE2 model at first glance. The curvy side panels even borrow a bit from the Yeezy design playbook. But regardless of whose name is on them, the Harden Vol. 9 offers a sleek and stylish look that we can definitely get behind.

adidas Harden Volume 9 “Cyber Metallic” Release Details

For those interested in this striking model, this “Cyber Metallic” colourway will be released in February 2025. Sneaker enthusiasts will be able to grab a pair through adidas and select retailers at a retail price of $160 USD in men’s sizes.

While we eagerly await these futuristic kicks, you can enjoy some of the other exciting releases adidas has lined up, such as the upcoming Bad Bunny x adidas Gazelle Indoor “San Juan”, the coveted adidas Fear of God Athletics One “Black Toe”, or the return of Kobe Bryant’s adidas Kobe 2, now known as the Crazy 2.
