Adidas Built a Samba From Today’s World Cup Final Ball

Ahead of today's Spain vs. Argentina final, adidas and Dick's Sporting Goods went back to Dominic "The Shoe Surgeon" Ciambrone for a second Trionda-based Samba — but a separate "1/750" pair circulating on Reddit doesn't check out the same way.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup finally comes to an end today as Spain face Argentina in the final at New York New Jersey Stadium. Cleverly, adidas has timed a sneaker announcement around the epic match. Adidas, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and custom sneaker designer Dominic “The Shoe Surgeon” Ciambrone put their collective creativity together to unveil a new special edition Samba sneaker based on the tournament’s gold-and-black finale ball. A follow-up to the Trionda-based Samba, which the same three partners released back in November, this design looks even more impressive.

Finals Ball Samba is what Ciambrone’s studio is calling the new pair of sneakers. Constructed from the “Trionda Final,” the special-edition match ball adidas introduced on July 6 for the World Cup’s closing games (the semifinals, the third-place game, and today’s final) is a White/Black/Gold Metallic colorway built around the 18-karat gold trophy designed by Italian sculptor Silvio Gazzaniga in 1974.

Ciambrone’s team wrapped the Samba in panels pulled from real Trionda Final balls. Per Ciambrone’s own account, no two pairs are identical, since each is hand-built from panels cut off an actual ball.

The tongue is stamped with gold, trophy-inspired detailing and lettering that nods to the tournament’s final host cities, including New York/New Jersey.

A Sequel to November’s Giveaway-Only Drop

Back in November 2025, the team behind this design also built a Samba from the standard Trionda match ball. The shoe was distributed exclusively through a free-to-enter giveaway inside the Dick’s Sporting Goods app. That comp closed December 4, 2025, and, unfortunately, the shoe was never available for retail purchase to the public.

The new Finals Ball Samba appears to be the same deal, except there hasn’t been any announcement regarding a giveaway yet. It’s only been shown so far on Ciambrone’s and Complex’s Instagram accounts.

A Separate — and Unverified — “1/750” Pair

A completely different Samba has also started circulating on socials this week, claiming to be “1/750 made” and tied to a FIFA hospitality partner. The shoe uses FIFA colors (white, tan, and gold) with a strip of multicolored numbered tiles along the side panel. It’s visually distinct from anything adidas, Dick’s, or Ciambrone has put their names on.

Notably, the original poster on Reddit’s own caption describes it as a custom rather than an official release, and Reddit’s response was skeptical, with several commenters questioning both the shoe’s design and its ties to FIFA.

Where Things Stand With The Finals Ball Samba

With Spain and Argentina set to play one of the most exciting games in football history, the Finals Ball Samba arrives as another piece of adidas x World Cup 2026 history. Right now, it’s still a mystery, but expect more details, including how fans might actually get a pair, to arrive from adidas, Dick’s, or Ciambrone’s channels after tonight’s match.
