The PUMA Suede has been hot property in 2024. Fans of one of the most classic sneakers over the decades have enjoyed plenty of new colourways and collabs. This time around, PUMA has partnered with Lower East Side creative outpost LAAMS for the PUMA x LAAMS Suede.
A Closer Look At The Design
For its latest iteration, the Suede LAAMS ‘Blank Canvas’ features a unique style which aims to embody the spirit of encouraging creatives to pursue their various crafts.
The sneaker features a DIY-inspired, double-layered finish. This offers plenty of customisation options for artistic creativity. It has been labelled as part artwork and part sneaker for this reason. As such, the “Blank Canvas” has a removable top layer of canvas on the upper. This can be peeled away to reveal a fuzzy green suede beneath.
This elaborate construction comes with the instruction to “Wear them into the ground.” PUMA and LAAMS encourage wearers to create a unique and one-of-a-kind expression which forms part of their journey.
What We Like About The Sneaker
Along with the tear-away upper, the sneaker features large laces made of hairy suede. The tips of the laces read “PUMA” and “LAAMS” in silver lace jewels. Another unique attribute is the map of Manhattan’s Lower East Side on the sneaker’s outsole.
To round off the artistic styling, the Suede comes with a printed tote bag and a special watercolour paper box. The box serves as a blank canvas, allowing users to create their own work of art. Additionally, artwork can be submitted and will be considered for a commemorative zine and in-store display at LAAMS.

The PUMA x LAAMS Suede sneaker will be available from 3 August 2024. It’ll be available exclusively at Shelflife for R3,499.
