There is no doubt that Michael Jordan’s stretch with the Chicago Bulls is the stuff of legends. Of course, we’re not merely reminiscing about achievements like his six NBA victories or that unforgettable “flu game” feat. Instead, we’re focusing on the memorable moments of sneaker greatness. This period not only saw the birth of some of the most adored sneaker silhouettes in Jordan’s collection but also gave us some truly iconic colourways – especially the striking combination of red, black, and white that’s known as the “Chicago” scheme. Celebrating this extraordinary period in style, the Chicago Bulls recently provided a golden chance for die-hard Bulls fans and sneakerheads to lay their hands on an exclusive pair of Chicago Bulls Air Jordan 1 High Lux sneakers, skillfully customised by revered sneaker artist John Trottier (@johnnyskicks_).
Unveiling The Sneaker Design
The signature “Chicago” colour scheme is unmistakable in this Air Jordan 1 High Lux. Yet, it’s the minute specifics that really pack the punch. Initially, the design starts off as expected, with a fresh white base. But, a closer inspection reveals an intriguing change in the fabric used. The perforated pattern on the white fabric strongly alludes to a basketball jersey and, possibly, could even have been crafted from one. In stark contrast to this white backdrop, a black leather swoosh takes over the sides of the design, tastefully outlined with a trim of red leather.
Transitioning to the collar, we find a black and red striped fabric reminiscent of the OG jerseys Michael Jordan sported in the mid-90s. Although this style was reintroduced in recent years for the team’s alternative kit, it will undeniably bring back memories of the legendary era of the Chicago Bulls team under Michael Jordan.

You’ll still find the overlays adorned with dramatic, bold red leather. The ankle strap, however, is intricately decked out in a pattern that extends from one side to the other, highlighted by a net-inspired design that evokes thoughts of a basketball hoop.
As we move towards the heel, we are treated to the sight of the Chicago city skyline, gracefully etched into the back, with the iconic bull head in a prominent position in the middle. However, the right shoe takes a more minimalist approach, subtly etching the “Chicago Bulls” phrase into the backside. The balance of ornate detailing and simplicity is emblematic of the sneaker’s design.
Lastly, a simple white midsole and red rubber outsole hark back to the original colourway of 1985. We’re definitely fans of creative sneaker designs that bring a breath of fresh air while simultaneously showing respect to their original muse.
